Absolutely what I was hoping for. Easy to use and plenty of power to allow me to fish along shore line. Even in the wind
Minn Kota is a quality product, this one is no exception, works flawlessly.
Good product good price and availability.
This is a nice 24 volt trolling motor as you can upgrade it as you would like . Want to spot lock , buy the I pilot system , just remote control , buy a copilot package , quick release also available . The electric steer foot control can be operated 20 feet away from the unit and is way more flexible than the cable steer . it's a bit pricey and the wife still gives me the stink eye but I just paid $14 for a 36 pack of eggs Sunday , at Walmart . Just installed it so when it warms up I'll know if the digital maximizer is any good at saving batteries . It's hard to keep the fishing bug when it's 40 * F .
The only reason I am not giving 5 stars is because like others have said the deploying and retracting is not great. Other than that the power is good and the battery life is fantastic. I have this on a Lund 1650 Adventure SS. I use it on the Detroit river for walleye and can do at least 5 trips without a recharge. My old trolling motor didn't make it through 1 trip. It is reliable, powerful enough and the powerdrive steering is fantastic.
I have had this motor for a month or so.First lets get the bad stuff out the way.I have two gripes so far 1.Stow and deploy 2.No design to add Active target without having it move with trolling motor. My likes 1.Bottomline it does exactly what its advertised to do and it does it extremely well. 2.Very reliable.I have absolutely ZERO issues.I trust it enough to leave it on spotlock while i go get my truck to load it. Now would i buy it again? Probably not only because i dislike the stow and deploy set up.I would most likely go to a more expensive minn kota model with ipilot but a better stow and deploy.Wish Minn Kota had a program that allowed you to trade up on trolling motors
The instructions indicate to attach the power cables to a battery. However, the terminals were too small for any of my 5 deep cycle batteries, including Interstate. You would think MinnKota would know what size ring terminals to have on their cables. I needed to make a special run back to town (30 miles one way) to get supplies so I could use the motor. Very disappointed with that. Otherwise, I love the motor.
I agree with comments regarding stow and deploy. I'm getting older and it does wear me out during a long day of fishing. However it can be much improved with lubricanting the shaft. I'm hoping the 2023 version is more like the Terrova. The motor has been fantastic. I added I-pilot and heading sensor and love it. The 55lb thrust motor can move my 16.5 ft deep V with no problem even with wind and current.
The motor stops spinning (shorts out) when I press right on the foot pedal. It turns, but power to the prop stops until I depress the foot pedal. It does not do this when turning left... Also, the foot pedal stopped turning left - unless I press right first - after just a few hours of use... Finally, the power significantly reduces seemingly without reason. When I pressed the battery life button on the unit, it said full power, yet the motor couldn't have been operating at more than 60%. The unit is already mounted on the boat, which took considerable time, which makes this all that much more frustrating.
Inherited this unit from my father who recently passed, unit had very little time in use and the foot pedal quit working on the final day of an amateur tourney in overcast conditions with light rain. Hard to be competitive without the use of your trolling motor. Will see if MK will make this right and I will update this review.
