I wish the product came with better instructions how to install it on your trolling motor and I wish the battery would last longer
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Works great and I am a Striper guide and use it every day best thing on the planet
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Just what I needed hopefully this will stay in the boat. Great service
I wanted to write my own review after reading the others. I had the some complaints as both other guys... lock screen is a must and it hung upside down to me. Well, there is in fact a lock screen! Scroll to the bottom of the touch screen and it's right there. Also, just take the lanyard off and attach at the other ends attachment point for the lanyard and you are good to go. This remote over the others allows you to fine tune sooo much. It's one of the best tools in my boat for when I'm fishing walleye in the Spring in Green Bay and I'm making small shifts with my boat or jumping spots in and quick Spot Locking. I wish it was a little lighter, but at the end of the day... the touch screen and glass of that screen has some weight. That is the trade of you make in gear choices.
Love this remote, but I cannot stand how when you have the remote on a lanyard it hangs button side up, so when you grab it you naturally rotate it around so the buttons are on the bottom. Well why were the buttons then put on the top so the buttons are all upside down in the first place. Sure, you can rotate the screen so it's usable upside down but this makes no sense. Also, it always seems to spin so the screen comes in contact with your chest, which it sometimes will activate some of the buttons on the touchscreen. The remote needs a screen lock button like a smartphone, it would save battery and prevent accidental button pressing. You can lock the touchscreen but it is way to time intensive to be doing every time. Other than that I LOVE THIS REMOTE.
Remote died after 3 years. Will not turn on. Replaced battery and it worked for 2 weeks before it died again. Would not recommend this over a regular remote style. While it worked I found it to be heavy. Would frequently bump the touch screen and activate features on accident.
I bought the ulterra approximately 3 years ago, since I am not getting any younger to deploy or store the motor. I have struggled with the touch screen since new, it is way too sensitive and most categories on the screen should have been push buttons. Auto pilot, cruise control… High speed…It makes trolling a challenge. Now the remote's battery will hardly make it a full day. At least remote works when charging. Some engineers stupid idea with the touch screen, keep it simple, I also had it once where I had to store it manually while on the water, what a pain in the rear, surprisingly I didn't lose any parts in the lake..
I bought this product 3 years ago, and now it's broken. There's corrosion in its radio frequency. Minn Kota is aware of the problem, so they offer a 2-year warranty. But they continue to sell them.
I ordered a replacement and it doesn't even come with a charging cable or lanyard. While generally a fan of Johnson Outdoors, this is the most nickel and dime crap I've seen in a long time!
2.5 years old and it's junk. It's mind blowing that Minn Kota is aware of the problems with this remote and they still continues to sell them. I'll definitely be going in a different direction with my next motor.
