The Fortrex is an easily installed and operated trolling motor. The deployment and recovery are effortless, requiring a small amount of force. I purchased this 80 ft-lbs thrust Minn Kota to replace a Motor Guide that was on a used boat I recently bought. The power on this trolling motor is awesome. On high (100), it will raise the bow of my 17.5ft aluminum bass boat. It makes getting to the other side of the river/lake quick. I like the composite shaft and foot control as well. I would absolutely recommend purchasing.

Replacement for my 21 year old Maximum motor, that still was in good running condition. The Fortrex has 6 more lbs of thrust, than the old one. 74 lbs of thrust was the greatest at that time for the 24 volt system. The Minnkota motor has been so reliable It would be foolish to buy any brand. Thank you!

Minnkota has always made a great trolling motor. It's quiet and smooth and the stow assist is awesome. Just grab the rope pull it and let go to let it down and the assist makes it very light to pull back up into stow position. The only reason I don't give the fortrex 80 5 stars is because it's a little pricey.

Minn Kota a Great Trolling Motor. Quality Assurance is a tad off though. 1. The Base will NOT line up with the holes you drilled for a Maxxum if you are replacing. Used one hole and had to drill 5 others. 2. The FORTREX I received came with the problem so many others are having in that it will not lock down in the stow position. The locking mechanism will not grasp hold of the bushing to stay secure. You must manually push down on the motor and assist the slide to get it to lock. I am attempting to get warranty repair. This piece should have never passed inspection and been shopped to a buyer. Help center knew nothing of this issue nor the numerous videos discussing this issue on YouTube. Ron

the picture of this product and the description of the motor lead you to believe there is a built in sonar. Not true. I received the order and delivered the box to have the motor installed on my boat so that I could go to Florida the next day. When I looked at the motor installed, I saw there was no sonar. My first thought was that I had received the wrong motor. Re-checking the on-line description I found I had received the Model Number listed, though it was not the motor pictured and described as having sonar. I had no choice but to take it to Florida where I found it would not run on a power setting above 30 on the dial from 10 to 100. I spent a lot of time on my Florida fishing trip using my big motor to get out of the weeds. Now that I am back, I intend to take this thing off my boat and return it to Wal-Mart and Minn-Kota. When I calm down I will put something else on my boat.
