Nice product and a back saver.
Easy to mount and wire. The remote makes it even easier to drop anchor when I'm on a big river.

How heavy is the recommended weight for the pontoon deckhand to be able to drop the anchor?

Seems to be well built
Have not got to put it to the test yet overall it looks very well built only drawback is the extra remote the design could have been different so you can flush mount it on your dash

Minnkotta Deckhand 40
Ordered two of these for the front of our 29" pontoon. Have been out two times. So far, one works ok except gets tangled when reeling in line in deeper water. There are no guides for the rope, so it tends to wind up in mostly one spot instead of evening out. This means you have to go up and guide the rope back and forth with your hand. Which is still MUCH better than pulling the anchor up by hand. The second one has not worked well at all. Nothing about about it works correctly. I will have to take it off and exchange. Overall, love the idea. I think putting guides on would be a good idea. 100 ' of rope can be quite a mess when tangled. Hoping our next one will work as it supposed to and our bad one was the only one.
