Minn Kota Trolling Motors have a great reputation. I purchased a Minn Kota years ago, after it was recommended to me. The motor never let me down during all the years it was in use.

Have the motor on my kayak and it really gets moving when on high power (five). At first it startled me because the fifth "gear" is much faster than the others. Works excellent although getting through the weeds is a pain, as with any motor, especially since the prop is plastic. Thinking of ordering the three blade machete to cut through the weeds in my river. It is lite weight and works great on my yak. Thought it would be too heavy or too powerful for the yak but it works and the fit is fine. Only missing the 50 amp breaker that I had to buy separately. Minn Kota should have included the breaker since it is required by the Coast Guard. I also like the built in battery meter. Very handy. The extension handle is yet another daily used perk, although I still bought the extension from Minn Kota which is invaluable for motorizing a yak that isn't made to support a motor.......now it it is!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Perfect trolling motor for pushing my Sea Eagle Fish Skiff 16 through the marshes near Galveston. Has taken a beating in shallow salt water, oyster reefs, etc. Would definitely buy again. Only reason I'd change is to upgrade to a foot controlled trolling motor one day!

Looks nice. Haven't used it yet but will next weekend. Too bad it came with a chipped propellor. Not a little chip. A 3/8" chip off the entire end of one blade. The outer box looked fine. The inner packing looked a bit beat up at the prop end but the chip wasn't anywhere to be found so I can only surmise that it was packed that way. If so, not good. I'll see if it runs tomorrow. Fingers crossed. I got online with the Minn Kota and see that all warranty issues are dealt with by authorized dealers. Closest one to me is 25 miles so 50 miles round trip, yippee. Before I do that, I sent MinnKotaMotors.com a emailed them to see if they would just send me a new prop. That was late Friday so I hope they respond on Monday saying it's already in the mail but will see.

Minn Kota is always great, but this one specifically I got from Walmart, the box was damaged, then when I was out on the water, I realized that the forward and reverse were swapped… looked it up and it has something to do with the wiring. Of course.
