Minwax 785004444 Paste Finishing Wax, 1-Pound, Natural

I've created an experimental wooden entrance mat. One side finished in Minwax finishing wax, and the other finished in a tung oil sealer. The Minwax side has remained smooth after weeks of foot traffic abuse. While the tong oil side has become rough to the touch. The Minwax is easy to apply and inexpensive; plus, it smells good! =) The two photos show my test mat soiled then cleaned up.

I have used this wax and the Minwax Special Dark for decades, and have watched the price go up from much less than half its current price. But it is a good protective wax and buffs up beautifully. It is very hard in the can and keeping it warm does not seem to soften it up, making application a little difficult.

Goes on easy and after buffing leaves a nice soft shine. I prefer to use this and put several coats on instead of messing with varnish.

This is the second time I've bought this wax. It always goes on smoothly and covers well. This size lasts a long time and is easy to blend with stain for a colored wax. I love it!!

I love this paste wax. It needs to be put on by hand and buffed out with a machine. It is worth the work to get a beautiful shinning floor.

This is a great paste wax for most woodworking projects. It's best for inside pieces, since it's nice to the touch, but it won't really protect things from the weather. For outside furniture, consider something else. You can use this to give all kinds of wood a nice luster without doing a lot of painting or vapors. It doesn't have an unpleasant smell and it is easy to apply. Buff it on, buff it off. The color is pretty neutral, so it should work on most kinds of wood.

Good basic wax. Compared to the old Johnson's Paste Wax, no longer made, it doesn't spread as easily. It dries very quickly, too fast for easy application over a large table top. Apply in small sections at a time for best results. I did two light coats buffing between. All that said it buffs out easily and leaves a nice shine. I'd give it an overall 4 stars out of five. -Bfv
