Several months ago we purchased an 80 year old cottage that has a goodly amount of the original 1 1/4 inch hardwood flooring. We have "touched" almost ever. square foot of the floors, ceilings and walls. One evening we rolled a good coat of this polyurethane over the hardwood then got in the van and drove the 800 miles back home. When we returned 10 days later we were greeted by some of the most beautiful floors you will ever see. The surface is hard, smooth and squeaky clean as can be. Next is some new, made by my FIL, furniture....a Montgomery bed and a sewing table for my quilting wife.
I tried others years ago, the have stayed with these for years. Easy to custom blend to match anything. Being a woodworker for over forty years, Minwax Stains have always been in my shop and always will be. Thanks for helping my create the things I make
We use minwax oil based penetrating stain, because if the rich color it brings out in wood! The furniture we paint and stain for our customers get nothing but the best! When used correctly with the minwax pre-stain the product shows an even color throughout the project
I own a 100 + year old colonial home and my pet peeve is people that paint over natural woodwork. Last winter I decided to start refinishing some interior doors. I completed five so far and got fantastic results using Min wax pre stain conditioner, Min wax Wood Stain and of course Min wax Polyurethane. Mmm. The wood stain brought out all the natural grain in the doors and then 3 liberal coats of Min wax gloss polyurethane. OMG, I Can see my reflection in the finish. I want to emphatically state for the record that I am an amateur wood worker and just followed the instructions on the product labels. To close my review Min wax has opened up a whole new world of restoration projects around my home. Over this past spring I began taking down all of the bannisters and have completed restoration on 7 of 8 and they look fantastic and then stripped and refinished the bar top in my basement. Thank you for creating some amazing products for a laymen wood enthusiast. Drew Modic
I have made well over 500 wood decor pieces (tables, cabinets, shelving, etc) this year And Minwax stains is always my #1 choice. I have tried every major (and most minor) competitor's products and Overall Minwax is my choice and recommendation. Like ALL coatings you should test and use proper applicators. Pre-conditioning is a must on every piece we make. My only gripe is the pre-conditioner is pricey :-(
I grew up helping my dad doing everything from remodeling homes to building new houses. After he hit 100 projects, he retired a few years ago. It didn't matter what finish color clients wanted, Minwax had something that would work. I can't tell you how many cans of Minwax stain and varnish I've gone through over the years! I love it!
This is STILL the only brand I will use and have been using it since I was a kid in wood shop in the early 80's. Three coats of poly is next and what used to be a sauna in the basement will be a functional shower. Thanks to Minwax for staying true to quality first!
I've been refinishing wood furniture, part time for almost 25 years,as a hobby.I have always used minwax,it has never let me down and i am always proud and happy with the results.
I have been using this product for more than 30 years and would never use something other than minwax stain for all of our products I have been doing floors all my life this product has never let us down
I am very disappointed in this product. The application instructions say to brush on and leave for 15 minutes and wipe off. it was so dry after 5 minutes it would not move or level. I thought my project was ruined. I had to wet a rag with paint thinner to cut the stain and remove the excess. The Semitransparent white is a lot thicker than other stains. My new problem is how do I match the color on the 3 different pieces all have custom molding making it very difficult or impossible to sand. MINWAX appears to have the same instructions for every color.
