has done a great job on unsightly areas
I ordered this Stain Marker to cover up some scratches on the furniture that the grandkids had abused. This marker made it look brand new.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I'm restoring our 1886 house and I am using Polyshade for all of my wood projects, plus a few that aren't wood! Our original woodwork is a dark amber cherry, and I was worried about matching it. I am using coffee Gel Stain for my first step, then going over it with Polyshade Mission Oak in the gloss finish. It matches perfectly! I've also used it on the 1886 cast iron fireplace mantle, as well as new polyurethane molding, I just painted them a matte light orange first. Again, spectacular results! I remember my grandpa always using Minwax products, saying that you just couldn't find better wood products; 50 years later, I'm telling my grandson the same thing!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I didn't have high hopes for this pen because they typically look very obvious after application. This one actually worked amazingly well, but make sure to pay close attention to the coloring. The color i got went on a bit on the darker side, but I just let it sit and soak for a few minutes and took a soft cloth (one you don't care about) and kind of buffed the area to blend and slightly lighten the color. For small scratches, grudges, and nicks- this was fantastic! You couldn't tell you had used something like this for it's repair, by any means. Also it's worth noting that letting it dry for awhile is a good idea! With a larger area you may be able to tell a bit more but the cloth buffing also worked wonders. I would recommend!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a great tool to have on the ready at home. We have several pieces of wood furniture and wood floors that we have used this on. Anytime that I notice a scratch on the floor or furniture, I just color it with the stain! It dries quickly and is true to color.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Miniwax Wood Finish Stain Marker is a great product. It is simple and easy to use. It works really well on scratches and nicks on furniture, cabinets, wood floors, and a lot of other wood stuff. I used it on some scratches on my entertainment center and it worked great. My entertainment center looks so much better now. It also dried really fast. I will continue to use this product and highly recommend it.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] We move a lot and in the process our furniture gets a lot of scratches and dings. This stain marker is a genius invention that allows you to quickly touch up scratches without having to make a big mess with a can of stain and paint brushes. I found it's easily matched all my darker wood and as long as it is not a huge scratch, it covers it well without anyone noticing. Absolutely a great purchase if you have little kids, pets or move a lot!
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I used the Minwax to restore a 40 year old table my father bought from South America. The results was astonishing, it left the wood as if it was carved yesterday. I highly recommend it for repairs. I also used it on a wooden vase my sister gave me, the wax brought it back to life,
...You'll be Very Happy. True, it doesn't perform as the Minwax people told us it does. But it still works if you'll apply as follows: 1. Wipe the surface free of all dust. 2. Shake the marker vigorously for about 1 minute. 3. Apply the stain moderately on the damaged surface 3-4 times, tapping - NOT WIPING - gently after each application. 4. Wait 24 hours, then repeat steps 2 & 3. 5. Sit back and admire the beautiful job you just performed. Do I guarantee perfection? Of course not, 'cause I'm an ol' geezer who retired 12 years ago after spending 40 years working as a supervisor. Right, no experience at all as a painter. But the above worked for me to perfection.
This wasn't a very good wood marker. When using the marker I sometimes had to blot the area with tissue because of excess liquid. It also doesn't dry well. A week after using it on a desk my shirt got some stains from the marker. Also you have to get a shade lighter than the wood color that's on the packaging. I had to use this "Early American" color for a much darker wood because the original color I got was too dark.
