These are delicious when cooked in a skillet with oil. If the oil is too hot they almost burn in seconds, oil too low and they are greasy. I warmed in micro wave for 30 seconds to make them more pliable. Heat 1/2 inch oil in skillet. Using tongs slowly slide in. 30-40 seconds on one side, flip to the other for same side and drain on paper towels . I bent mine slightly and weighed down with a fork to get the taco shape. You can heat in the oven or air fry too. I paired mine with Taco Bell taco mix and mild sauce.
Save money and make delicious chalupas at home with these chalupa shells. I personally like these better than any others I’ve tried. You get 4 per pack and they are a good size. I highly recommend.
I just used our deep fryer at 350°... One minute on each side for a soft chewy texture that was spot on to copycat Taco Bueno's Muchaco, or a fast food version of an indian taco, if fried longer to brown and crisp them more they would make a good Taco Bell Chalupa copycat.... We prefer Bueno to Bell as far as restaurants go, probably because they actually cook the food from scratch vs heat and serve or add water to hydrate, making it just taste better. I have worked at both places giving me more inside info than I ever wanted when it comes to Bell... That said next time we might try making them more Bell style... They are expensive for what you get, but still worth getting once in a while as a treat.
Loved these chalupa shells! Made chicken chalupas at home with Taco Bell's Creamy Chipotle Sauce, and they turned out great. The shells were just the right mix of crispy and soft, holding up well with all the fillings. Paired them with Baja Blast and cinnamon churros. Highly recommend if you’re looking to recreate your favorites at home for a lower price.
never had a chalupa until I went to Taco Bell, so I bought these to make my own and they were very good. I actually like these better than hard shell tacos! they're pricey for four of them, but they are delicious. hopefully they will lower the price someday. they're kind of a pain to fry up but if you have the right tools you shouldn't have a problem. these will be on my next grocery list.
These are just as good as the big restaurant chains! Just fry them up and fill them up like the picture shows and you've got yourself a delicious chalupa. They are rather expensive, so you don't really get much for what you pay for them. I gave 5 stars because of the flavor, but for value, I'd give it 3 stars.
Perfect happy medium, between a soft tortilla and a hard shell. They don’t fall apart and they don’t shatter when you bite them. I put them in the air fryer, no oil. Flip halfway through. Pop it straight into a taco holder, and fill it. Will definitely be buying often
I only gave it three stars because, while the flavor is fine, when they were fried up they were extremely chewy and difficult to cut through or to even bite off. I was very excited about getting to try this product because I do love Chalupa’s. It just didn’t work and I will not be buying them again
Both times I've purchased these chalupas they've smelled rancid and have a funny taste. The 1st time, I just thought it was a bad batch even though the expiration date was several months away. This last time, it was the same rancid smell. I opened all 4 packs (16 chalupas in total)...Very disappointed. I will not purchase again.
I worked at Taco Bell, they use flat bread to make chalupas. This bread was more like naan bread, it also couldn't bend without breaking. Put it in the air fryer like directions said and it just came out hard and really inedible. They didn't cost much but I would definitely never buy again.
