I have been using the chefs knife independently from this set for years. I grew up cooking with my father who is a classically trained chef and this knife set has always been a necessity in our kitchen. This set really cranks it up a notch! I finally have one of my own and I love these knives. If you take care of them properly, I have no doubt they will last a life time. Quality product!

The magnetic board is hit or miss - sometimes a knife falls off from it, but overall, super happy about this set!
