I needed a firm hold gel to plaster down all the baby hairs around my hairline that always seem to be tickling my face, and being an irritating distraction. I knew I was going to need a strong hold gel, as my hair is super fine, and always seems to “escape" whatever product I've put on it. I tried the Got 2 Be gel in the yellow tube, and while super holding, it felt like clumps of dried Elmer's glue in my hair, and left a ton of residue. Also- weirdly- the Got 2 Be gel felt like it never fully dried. I decided to try this gel on a whim. I had never used any of these “Gorila/Galan” products. As I was tired of spending a lot of money on product that didn't hold the way it claimed it would, I thought I would try one of these inexpensive hair gels. I just sort of closed my eyes and picked one of them, which turned out to be this product. And- I am so glad I picked it! This stuff absolutely gives a strong, all-day hold. I *do* feel this gel in my hair, and, due to the amount I use (this is only the second time I've used it, and I think I'm using too much) it is a bit crunchy. But for some reason, it's not an unpleasant crunchy. I know that sounds silly, but my hair just is nice and slicked down and controlled, and I know it's going to stay that way- all day long, all night long, and then some. And it's not causing the unpleasant “there's a big clump of stuff in my hair” feeling, which the Got 2 Be gel caused. If you are looking for something to slick down curly hair- this product would work. I have curly hair, and styling it can be challenging. (Dampen your hair first, distribute some of the gel between your palms, apply it to your hair, and comb it through.). If you need a gel for spiking- this stuff is gonna work great! It's a thicker consistency; this particular Gorilla gel formula is a teal blue color. (You old-timers will know what I mean when I say the color reminds me of old-school Dippity-Do, back when that stuff provided a decent hold.). I used a large pea size of it, rubbed it between my palms, and then slicked back my hair all around my hair line, starting from my sideburn area. It dries very fast, and gives a no-nonsense strong hold. You also can't see it on your hair, which is nice. The Got 2 Be gel was weirdly visible as a layer of stuff. This gel vanishes when it dries. This product reminds me of the products we used to use back in the 80s, when hair really defied gravity. I have a shoe box full of hair gels in my closet that all claim to be “strong hold” and- none of them provided more than a light to medium hold. This Moco de Gorila stuff is the real deal. It would also be a great setting gel, but I would dilute it 1 to 1 with water. And it's so affordable! This 11.99 ounce-sized bottle is going to last me forever. I have to admit- just judging from the packaging, I would never have tried this product. I'm happy I did try it! It's a great product.
Absolutely love this product. Has a good firm hold and doesn't leave your hair flaky. Hope they continue to keep the Galan style in stock.
Really like this stuff. Really like the new look (or at least this version verses the tub). I get just the right amount and there is less risk of me contaminating the whole pot with my dirty fingers
Works as it should
My husband has been using this for years. Had tried the professional brands but always returns to this.
Luv it. Smells good %26 Makes hair feel and look Handsome
Good gel, easy to wash out; can re activate with water; smells good
My daughter has some very hard to lay down hair, and this did the trick.
This does a pretty good job of holding. Better than most gels
This works awesome holding my girls hair when it is in a pony tail
