These are incredible. i recently purchased some with an install of the Moen Flo shut-off and they already detected a very small leak that i was unaware of. The cost from my plumber was $150 for the same box of 3 that i purchased here. These are a great bargain. These leak detectors are a game changer.
I purchased the 3-pack of Moen Smart Water Detector sensors back in February of 2020 (yes one month before the dreaded C-word hit). I put one each at my sump pit, water heater, and under my basement bar sink. Been using them for over 3 years now non-stop and I've been extremely happy with them since. In the past 3 years, the sensors have gone off 3 times. The first time was because a guest dropped an ice cube near the sump pump and it melted, which I found out within 30 seconds of the alert. The second time though was a real emergency. While we were out at dinner there was a major downpour and water filled up my basement window well and was spilling into my basement. I got the texts and emails while we were waiting for our food to come out but I was able to drive home and clean up most of the water before it caused any major damage. The third alarm was when my 18 year old water heater started leaking while I was on vacation in the Dominican Republic. Unfortunately I did not get the text messages because I didn't have cell service at the time, but I did see the emails come in the next morning when I woke up and was able to have my brother come over to the house and drain the water heater for me. Another great save from these Moen sensors!! These sensors have worked great with only a few very minor issues noted. The batteries that they use are a little bit expensive and do need to be replaced somewhat frequently. Also, sometimes (once every 2 or 3 months maybe?) one of the sensors will drop off of my wifi for a few hours at a time even though I know that I have solid wifi at the location where the sensors are located and the other two are still working just fine. I'm not sure why they drop off or why it takes so long to re-connect, but they seem to always reconnect and then will stay connected for a few months after that. Here is a photo that my brother took of the water heater leaking and the sensor that detected the leak located right by it. Highly recommend these sensors!
Getting the button to lay flat is a challenge for me anyway. Units are well made.
The product I received was not brand new. Two out of three batteries were already out of juice and the third was at 13%. Fortunately the detectors themselves still work so I'm keeping them. But I should have received brand new product with new batteries.
Just installed the Moen leaking shutoff device and tried to add-in the 3 sensors goes along with it. Soon I finish setting the 1st sensor and it trigged the leaking even it sat on the table. Ran out of time so I unplugged the battery and will finish setting for another 2 tomorrow.
We are happy with the water leak sensors. However, one of the sensors had battery removed and a loose used battery that had very little remaining charge was provided in its place. This battery died after two days.
I can't seem to get it synced with my iPhone/ipad/android devices. I get stuck at the part where I'm connecting the detector to my WiFi, that screen doesn't change at all!
Only one leak detector worked.Needed new batteries
Our plumber installed the leak detectors and we have experienced several issues. First, some of the batteries were bad and needed replacement. Next, 3 of the detectors wee bad and could not be added to the system. The biggest problem is 2-4 of the detectors drop every day. Some of them repair to the system but a few will not repair and have to be manually added back. Please help.
I couldn't get these to connect to my network despite the fact that I have three other sensors already set up. I took these to a nearby Walmart to return only to find out they aren't returnable because they are sold by a third party. Lesson learned! Be very cautious with what you order from Walmart if you are expecting usual Walmart services.
