I purchased the mole and gopher sonic spikes because we had 42 mounds/holes in our yard at one time! We put one in the backyard and one in the front yard. After one day there were no new mounds. It's been a week and still no new mounds. I hope it continues to work! I like that it has batteries that can be changed out. I think it works better than the solar ...at least for us because our yard is very shaded.
I was killing 2-3 moles a week in the old fashioned traps. Since I put these in I haven't had any new mole tracks show up. And now that I have stamped down the old tracks and replanted grass I hope they are gone for good. My lot backs up to woods. I put 6 of these spaced about 50 feet apart along the lot line. It might be overkill, but it has worked so far. I hope the batteries last the 4-6 months it says. I've only had these a couple weeks.
I was skeptical that these items would rid my lawn of moles, but I am a true believer now. The pesky critters were digging tunnels and pushing up mounds all over my yard. I put the spikes down a recently dug mound and left for the weekend. When I returned there were no new mounds - none! And I haven't seen a new hole or mound in 2 weeks. The lawn is critter free!
I started using the sonic spikes years ago. We had moles so bad and after many different efforts with so many different things, we found these spikes. They really worked so have been using them ever since.
So far mole g Has not come back. Have had 1 stake in ground for a week
I've used these for several years and as long as I replace the batteries regularly they work great. Every year the aerator guys break one, so I keep a supply for replacements and if I let the batteries die the moles are back in a month or so. My reminder to check on the batteries. You hear the faint buzz when you're in the yard but it's not a problem, and apparently it drives the moles nuts.
Every day I was getting a new hole (my way to express damaged grass with soil brought up to the top) in my yard the size of a plate. I was desperate and took the advise of a friend and bought Sonic Spikes. It has been several days and no new holes. I am thrilled as the damage was unsightly.
I've used these spikes for probably 10 years now. Most of these comments say the moles borrow right up to the spike. If you read the box it says they will do this because they are curious to the sound. I had one mole that didn't leave for awhile but eventually did. The only down fall to these is they usually only last 2 seasons then go bad. But as long as you remove them before winter that's two seasons and no moles.
The spike was difficult to get into the hard ground of Arizona, and it makes a beep noise if it is not all the way into the ground, but once installed, it works well. We have not seen the gopher for the last week or so.
I read some of the reviews for this product before buying. I apparently have Super Gophers that love the sonic sound and wanted to find out more about it. The day that I put the spike into my flower bed it was overrun. I had 4 new gopher holes the next morning. I thought perhaps it was a fluke. NOPE. A week later I had 10 new mounds. But wait, there's more!! Not only did I get more gophers, I also have new vole activity. This is something that I didn't have before this wonderful product. I guess it's back to good old traps.
