The bike arrived and was packaged incredibly well. All the frame was covered in two layers of protection even. I loved the look and feel... you don't buy a bike like this to sit on the seat. I'm 48 years young and I wanted to go back to my BMX days and thought this would suffice. Well, the bike did outstanding I can't say anything bad about it, I couldn't get used to the straight handlebars or the suspension shock. I don't shred it like I used too, but I did order a 26" BMX bike to replace this one because I'm going to (or break something)... stay young have fun.
The bike arrived promptly and intact. Assembly was pretty easy, you will need your own tools. I like the paint job on the bike. Some components are generic but easily upgradeable. Had minor scratches on the fork but hardly noticeable. I would recommend this bike to a friend or family.
Price, Delivery and my son-in-law put it together fast enough. I'm 75 and couldn't do it but it was easy and my grandson loves it.
I found this was stoked it was 200 .... going forward I know from experience these parts are very baseline parts , which my whole intent was to get the frame and put premium parts on it ....rule one never ride forks that can kill you these front shocks came bent and cracked and the front drop outs were welded at a slight angle (I knew I was going to change them out anyway )but this review is for a person getting into biking not knowing what they are riding ... if you buy this bike upgrade the parts for sure or you will sadly regret it don't risk it for the biscuit..upgrade ,bars headset ,forks ,pedals ,cranks ,seat and seat post. plus get hydraulic brakes ....they will save you in the long run at least you're face ... overall good looking bike front emblem came off during shipping of course account for how hot it is outside I was going to take all stickers off anyway , it has a few scuffs I assume from shipping .welds are kinda rushed but overall I believe I will ride this bike for a while....
Like other reviews here, the fork came damaged making assembling the bike impossible. I had been planning on upgrading the parts anyway so I opted to contact Walmart customer support for a partial refund in lieu of sending it back. I was able to bend the fork back enough to put the wheel on, but its not perfect, and after riding it for a minute, I would be replacing the fork regardless as its very soft. Most of the components will be upgraded on this, as what comes with it is pretty basic, but what can you expect for $200. The frame is nice, wheels and tires appear to be good quality as well. the bike comes mostly assembled and you just need to attach the pedals, front wheel and bars. If you are unsure how to adjust brakes take it to a shop and have them do it for you. Overall a good project base, but out of the box I would be skeptical of the longevity of most of the components.
I just received the pt26 today. No damage what so ever to the box so I can only assume it was an issue straight from the factory. The rear wheel is so warped that the tire is hitting the chain stay. The graphics are rippled from not being applied properly. The frame is decent though. So if you're looking for a cheap frame while wanting to upgrade everything else. This could work.
So I received my Mongoose PT26 Dirt Jumper today. I will say the bike looks pretty good…but the quality I'm very unsure about. When I unpackaged my bike it was very clear to see that there were some issues immediately. Some scratches along with a nasty bent fork were certainly noticeable. I've reached out to the manufacturer and hope to get some answers. Really bummed that I can't go shred now. Hopefully the issue is resolved in a timely manor.
If it seem too good to be true, it usually is. A DJ for $200 falls into this category. This arrived damaged, with a bent fork. The front shocks were also blown out with no way to adjust. This is good for a teenager just cruising, but avoid if you want to hit dirt jumps or pump tracks legitimately.
Bike was delivered with an extremely bent front fork. So bent that the front tire could not be installed. Called the Mongoose customer service number waited on hold for 45 minutes before the line just cut off. Will be returning the bike.
Poor quality of workmanship I ordered 3 and all of them where Damaged If you ask me save some your money and buy somewhere else very disappointed
