Great for beginners I'm currently studying electrical engineering, and this is my only joy in life
This is perfect for a beginner. Came pretty well set up and all that had to be done was tune it. Frets were even dressed nicely. Can’t go wrong at that price.
I thought that a $99.00 guitar would be just okay to play, then I could make change as needed. Well I was surprised on how well this Cali Classic played. The fret board is very nice, with polished fret, did not look with a magnifying glass. The string are set at a good height and the intonation was spot on. The pickups are okay, better than I thought they would be. They are wired so that the bridge pickup does not have a tone control, but I understand that this is typical of Strats.. There are two upgrades I want to make. 1. The machine heads (tuners) I would like to upgrade, but to what I am not sure. I'm not throwing $200.00 tuners on this guitar.2. I would like to upgrade the nut to a Tusq nut and change the trees while I'm at it. I'll make more changes but for now I am very satisfied with the guitar. Oh - the gig bag is padded and not bad. Remember when you buy this, it's only $99.00, but your getting your money's worth.
The guitar looks great, exactly as it does in the online photos. The 5 way switch works well, there isn't a huge difference in sound at positions 2 and 4, but you can get a bit of that "quack" that Strats are famous for. The only complaint I have is that the frets could have been finished a touch better, but that's a 5-10 minute job I can do myself. The neck and fretboard are great, with the finger board being a little wider than my Tele, so it is easier to play. This guitar is a great deal.
Write your review here. It must be at least 10 characters long. Consider whether you wgreat guitar for price plays good and does have a beefy tone to the pickups just like it reads on the listings switched out the tuners though everything else was fantastic on this guitar it came pretty well setup the high e string was kind of high on the setup but i think it has to be that way for this kind of guitar to play and sound great still excellent for price cant beat it in my opinion ould recommend this product and what you like or dislike about it.
I am very happy with my Indio Classic Electric guitar! Light weight and beautiful finish, you will be amazed at how good this guitar sounds and plays. $100.00 (on sale) is an unbelievable good deal. Super first guitar that will last through beginner stages and beyond. Great fun as an alternative guitar or to have when friends come over and want to jam. No it does not compare with top of the line guitars, but still quite a bargain!
Love this guitar... plays very nice (you should have some tuning skills, good one to learn on to do so anyways) Light on the finger pressure, great pick up sounds and still have the stock strings on as have not had any issue with them. I am a beginner in that I have not played for 40+ years now, but the price for what you get is just fantastic.
It is a nice looking guitar that was set up okay as received. All electronics were working as well. However, one of the neck joint screws broke as I was removing the neck which ruined the guitar for me because it is a tough job requiring some specialty tools. The worst part is that I cannot even remove the neck from the body now because of how the screw broke. Unlucky I guess!
Great guitar for money BUT the particular one I got was not grounded properly and makes an annoying HUM - especially when your hands are not muting the strings - I purchased another Monoprice Indio guitar before (Telecaster version) and was FAR more quiet in contrast. So I think I just got a bad copy.
So I ordered mine and I was happy with how quick it came, but when I looked at the box, it was covered with dents and holes and things like that. So I opened up the box and when I found the guitar, right off the bat I found a large scratch, and there was even a plastic cover over it, I looked around some more and soon found that it was covered it scratches. The guitar is extremely easy to scratch and to be honest I would’ve expected way better of a guitar. The strings where horrible right off the bat (though I do understand that factory strings aren’t going to be perfect) they would go out of tune as soon as I would tune them, and there was a buzzing noise whenever I would plug it in to my brand new amp with a brand new chord. I’m disappointed, and I’m going to definitely be using my warranty!!!
