This Indio truly replicates the classic electric strat guitar. The color combo with Maple neck is very sophisticated. My particular guitar was excellent in fit and finish. Very playable right out of the box after tuning. It will definitely inspire a new player and it's not too shabby for the experienced guitarist unless you are a logo snob. Everything was nicely done, from neck finish, fret work and body paint. All electronics worked perfectly.
Great, cheap guitar to use body and neck in order to mod. Save a thousand or more and add a few components and it sounds better than a $4k Fender!
This guitar had a great set up out of the box and plays like a 400$ guitar. The quality and playablility is right on par with the more expensive squires.
Did I need another guitar? No…but for less than $99 delivered I had to see what all of the good reviews were about. The white Cali Classic I received from Monoprice is beautiful and of a higher quality than many inexpensive guitars. Is it on par with a $3,500 custom made guitar? Of course not. But the tone straight into the amp, and through pedals, is as good as it can be. It did require 15 minutes to file the fret ends as they had sprouted and were sharp on this one. There are plenty of YouTube videos showing how to do this as rounding the fret ends and the neck’s shoulders is all that is needed to make a guitar’s neck feel very comfortable. Next I lowered the strings to my liking and there was still no string buzz on the frets. With the string action set and the neck shoulders filed comfortably round and smooth “I can, and do, play this guitar for hours at a time”. I’ve been playing guitar for over 30 years and that’s my highest rating! 'might buy another just to “relic” it
I am a beginner electric guitar player, who's been playing classic guitar for >20 years. Recently, I decided to explore other styles of music, and after a long search, I still went to a local Guitar Center to try different brands myself. I checked out Ibanez, Fender etc. and finally just got myself a Squier Strat which seemed the best option for the money for me, as a beginner. I spent quite some time adjusting it to reduce the fret buzz, making each string to be in tune (checking intervals on the open string, 12th fret and flageolet on the 12th), adjusting each string height on the 12th fret, trying different pick up heights to get a decently sounded tone etc. I bought a warranty for that >$200 guitar, and I didnt't want to mess up with it any further, but I wanted to continue experimenting. So, I decided to get this Indio guitar from Monoprice to pretty much tear it apart and try different adjustments, such as installing new pick ups, replacing frets for Jumbo, putting super slinky strings etc. For the price of the guitar, I didn't expect much from it, so this seemed like a reasonable model to try different things I had in mind..The guitar arrived 2 days after the purchase. It came with a nice gig bag and a pack of keys which one can use to make adjustments I mentioned above. I was like, yeah, I know what these keys are for.... When I tuned up the strings, installed that handle thing for a vibrato, checked out fret smothness at the bottom of the neck and started playing - I was shocked. Everything felt perfect, except, I think the neck is a bit thicker than on my Squier, but that was even better when you are switching from a fat neck of a classic guitar. The tone, the response, each string tune, the overall feel was spot on. I don't know what I would want to adjust or change in this guitar. You, guys, took care of everything which a typical beginner has no idea about, so this guitar is perfect out of the box for people who want to get a good electric guitar and start learning how to play it. I will keep it as is, and this guitar will certainly meet most of my needs until I learn how to make sound like Eric Eclapton (I wish). Many thanks! Really appreciate your great service and the quality of the product. These days, this a very pleasant suprise. Nikolay
I've been playing a long time and I've owned since really nice guitars. This is worth three times what it cost me easily. Really impressed. Just as good as a Squire.
It's almost pointless to say anything bad about a 79.00 guitar. Overall I was pleased at what I got but since you are asking I will say that there was some fret buzz I had to adjust the neck to fix the problems with that and the other thing they could do is smooth the surface and edges of the frets. Overall I still think it was a pretty good deal. I bought a white one and a black one. Had more issues with the frets on the black one than on the white one. We'll see how they hold up. I would still recommend , especially when they are on sale at 79.00
The guitar arrived in great cosmetic condition and for the price, it?s a great value. Just a heads up to 1st time guitar buyers/players, most guitars need to be adjusted out of the box and the Cali Classic was not an exception. Neck relief, intonation, action and pickup heights all needed adjustment, so you?ll need new strings at setup. As confirmed with other owners, and like nearly all other Strat copies, the tremolo bridge does not have enough play to properly intonate the E and A string with a ?floating? tremolo, but that seems to be the fate of all the clones. So, this is a great value for a player that is willing to either play it as a hardtail or limited tremolo dive bombing but no up pulls. The other great thing about the Cali Classic is that it?s fully upgradable with either Fender or aftermarket parts, so you may never outgrow it, just that tremolo bridge issue.
I bought this as a mod project and found that is lacking in overall fit and finish compared to other guitars in this segment. What should I have expected for a guitar that was less than $100 shipped to my door. I had purchased previously one of the deluxe ash telecaster style models that monoprice makes and that guitar was absolutely fantastic. If your looking to buy and inexpensive guitar save up the extra $120 and buy the deluxe, you won't regret it.
To Many White's ? should be 1 all in White Color like Peralll' White
