Out of the box, all I did was tune it and it sounds great. My Indio by Monoprice Retro Classic Telecaster arrived undamaged despite the minimalist packaging. The (blonde) finish is flawless. The rosewood fretboard looks great and has no fret sprout or any issues that require filing or sanding. The tuners feel solid and stable. There are no problems with the guitar staying in tune. I removed the plastic film from the pickguard and back of the tuning machines, plugged in and, the pickups sound good. All knobs and switches are sturdy and functional. I cannot list a single complaint about this Indio by Monoprice Retro Classic Telecaster, especially considering it's very affordable price tag. I'm thoroughly impressed.
Great guitar . I did not upgrade anything . Came with nice bag . And a very well built guitar. Unbelievable price worth two times more for sure. They pack and package the guitar as if it were worth a thousand 2 thumbs up for a company that still cares about quality.
This is a fantastic guitar for any beginner or someone who wants to see if a Telecaster is for them or to mod or even just to play. I've got Mexican and American Fenders and have had lower end Squiers. I'd say this guitar is the equal of the Bullet line but costs considerably less. The finish is flawless, electronics are fine, tuners are good and the neck is decent. The biggest problem I have with the guitar is the very small frets (not tall at all) and the sharpness of fret ends. The fretboard is listed as being rosewood but it's more likely what is called "engineered rosewood". It looks good and I like it but could be a little smoother. Buyers should note that Fender parts are not totally interchangeable. For instance, the neck plate is a different size so if you're planning to swap necks be aware. The pickguard holes and shape are not the same as Fender's, nor are the holes drilled appropriately for Fender's tuners. The ferrules fall out the back of the body when changing strings which is ridiculous and if you look in the holes you will notice that they are not drilled straight through the body. It appears the front and back of the body are actually two separate pieces of wood glued together with holes for strings drilled separately and they don't line up properly. That is unbelievably bad but you can still insert the strings so it doesn't negatively impact much. I would definitely buy this again and I'm even contemplating getting another.
Very nice especially at their price. I tried a GLARRY and it was not close to the Indio in quality.
Unbelievable price. Really. $66 w/shipping. I've been playing professionally for 54 years. I have a million guitars - top brands and no names. A little set up goes a long way. Almost as good as my tele...Love this guitar!
A very well precisioned instrument. A wonderful telecaster experience. Not just a beginner's guitar.
I was very satisfied with the guitar, all I had to do was tune it. The neck and action was surprisingly very good.
Excellent guitar and case for the price,
Played this at jam session on the day that it arrived. Everything was just fine. Frets could probably use a sanding, but not that bad considering the price. To sum up. Excellent value for money & very playable, straight out of the box.
Already wrote a review a few days ago but I got this link for a review today. So..... yeah this guitar is totally usable out of the box. The frets are especially nice since I wont have to do anything to them. For reference; last year I bought a "real' Gibson DC for $999.99 and it was unplayable out of the box due to frets that would slice the fingers of a well callused hand. Luckily I am a tech so it wasnt too big a deal for me. But come on!! This $99.99 guitar puts Gibson to shame. As you can see I modded it right away because it is a keeper. However there is one reason I didnt give 5 stars. The ad claims that the radius is 9.5 in one area and that it is close to 14 in another part of the descriptions. It is very close to 14. I bought it because I thought it was 9.5. I may get used to the flatter radius and wind up keeping it. With the mods I did, it sounds and plays great. Oh...I also replaced the Bridge pup with a hotter one from GFS. Sweet!!!
