Just what I was searching for!

Anonymous March 8, 2020

I was trying to find clear PLA filament and thankfully came across the Monoprice crystal clear PLA - I use a Monoprice Maker Plus III so having something specifically made for it's extruder was really helpful! The results are just as I'd hoped for, though I'm still tweaking my settings to see just how close to 'crystal' I can get with my prints. I've already done a 'vase' print of a bust and was very satisfied with the result! I'll only buy clear filament from Monoprice from now on, so I hope that you continue this item!

Excellent, easy to use filament for all level of users.

Simply the best filament I?ve used so far. Never had any issues with. Just bought a new Ender 3 Mac and right out of the box printed the Monoprice Premium filament using general settings for the Ender in Cura 4.10. I?m only buying this filament going forward.

Prints great! Could stand to be a tad wider and a bit tidier.

Anonymous July 3, 2020

This plastic prints well and is a good color for grey. Most other brands have a dark grey or light grey but nothing really in the middle. This is what I was looking for. I've had zero printing issues whatsoever but a few close calls. The product does look pretty much exactly as it's pictured online, but I knocked a star off the rating because the spooling is extremely chaotic. I haven't had any problems while printing with the three spools I've used, but I did have a bit of confusion when first opening it because the end slipped under another strand. Be very careful when opening it, you may give yourself a tangle without realizing it because it already looks like a mess. Spools are also a tad thinner than most I'm used to from other brands, which makes the first few yards of plastic spill over the edge if you're not careful. I may have had a failed print and tangled filament if I didn't notice and correct the issue in time. All in all, good plastic for printing a giant Stargate!

Color differences between batches & more stringy than other MP Filament

Josh I February 1, 2021

First and foremost MP filament has always served me very well, by in large this isn't much of an exception with the following caveats. 1. I've had a few spools of this now and the color seems to vary between batches pretty noticably - not a HUGE deal but noticable for sure. The current batch is much darker blue than the last batch. The attached cable chain image shows it pretty clearly. 2. This more than any other color seems to be picky when it comes to printing clean. With the same exact gcode I get very clean prints with white, black and orange MP filament but this one is just a touch stringy and less clean. Not quite sure what the story is there.

Great quality, but requires careful tuning

Anonymous April 12, 2020

First time using this filament, and i like it. The filament has a very fine, smooth quality. I swear i see fewer layer lines in this filament than any others i have used, with other things being equal. But it also seems to fracture more easily along layer lines than other filaments i have used, and it also seems to "string" or create cobweb effects more heavily than other filaments i have used. I've tried adjusting temperatures and print speeds in order to offset this, and haven't had any luck yet. But i will also buy more of this filament and keep trying to dial it in.

Not a terrible filament for the price range however i would highly recomend a better quality filament for any serious application

Anonymous September 7, 2020

Printed color was way darker and dull in comparison to any of the pictures listed on their website. The filament prints best at higher temps 210 seemed to work the best for me but for what ever reason this filament didnt handle details as well im assuming it doesnt melt as evenly as the others but it may have been this roll specifically. When the roll arived it was semi brittle and would break with my fingers instead of bending this is not the only roll i bought from monoprice but it was the only roll i had problems out of it printed pretty consistantly stringy

Spooled just like the picture

JohnK January 16, 2022

If you're looking to stand over your print and detangle the spool every 15 minutes, this is what you're looking for. I ran out of another brand of gray and switched to this for an overnight print. Woke up to a failed print and a mess to clean up. The spool was cinched up and was only then I noticed it looks like it was coiled by a todler. It did print OK if babysat but I'll never buy Monoprice filaments again.

Not happy with this filament

Anonymous November 4, 2019

After the small spool I got with my MP Voxel ran out, I tried the Amazon filament first without success. From a recommendation from another teacher, I went with Hatchbox and have never had a problem. However, Hatchbox is severely backordered so I decided to go with the Monoprice filament. Tried numerous configurations of heat, speed etc and no adhesion. Very poor results.

Terrible Quality

Anonymous April 10, 2020

I bought this because Amazon was out of stock and I'd rather wait for Amazon to restock then buy this again. First, the filament is gets tangled to easily and throws off the print. Second, I had no problem with the smell when I bought off Amazon, this smells a lot. Third, this filament is so brittle. I was trying to take off the support from the print and when I did the entire print broke in half. This product is not premium. Buy Hatchbox instead of this.

Worst filament I've worked with

Anonymous January 29, 2021

On our second run with this blue filament, it started breaking inside the machine and I had to remove the feeder tube to get the piece out. I then started to manually pull some of the filament off of the spool and it was almost shattering in my hand. Half of the entire spool ended up breaking off from the spool. This product is of extremely poor quality and will not buy filament from monoprice again.
