It works great! It seems to be built well. I knew that it would not be strong enough to hold up the microphone that I have. But when it got here I took it to the hardware store and bought 28 pound springs. Are use them to replace the top two springs on the boom and now it works great! I've heard other people say that the knobs broke easily on their's. I did not experience this but those two are easily purchased at Moe‘s hardware stores for a couple bucks. Even if you include the cost of doing your own upgrades it's much cheaper than buying the more expensive them in the first place. If you were the sort of person who wants to spend much less money but putting very little work this is great. If you want it perfect out of the box I guess you'll have to shell out a lot more money.

As my eyes get older it becomes more difficult to read the newspaper and the tiny print in paperback books. I have a project to place a USB webcam on the scissors mike stand and be able to read the newspaper and books on the 49" TV I use as a computer screen. Picture and examples promised when the stand comes in.

As a teacher doing distance learning, I've been wanting to make it as good as I can. I already had the USB large condenser mic by monoprice, so, I opted for this version with the cable already integrated. I sat in a meeting with a lot of other teachers and you can hear the difference in microphones. I think it helps kids learn if they can hear well. In use, I love it. It's so handy to position the mic in front of me while I present to my class or take attendance. And, when I mute it, I can slide it to the side. I like that I know my students can hear me clearly. The only criticism I have is that the clamp that holds the arm has a loose attachment to the arm. The clamp has a hole about a half inch in diameter and the arm has a round part at the bottom that fits in. A finger knob turns a screw to tighten and hold the arm in place. The hold is okay but the arm rocks in the holder. I suspect this is in order to allow the arm to turn in the clamp. It's not a reason to overlook the arm, though. I bought another for my wife. She loves it, too. You should buy it.

It's not going to win any awards, but it's inexpensive and it works. However, it didn't come with anything to keep the arm in the mounting bracket, so if you pull up on the arm, you can pull it out of the bracket. Also, the arm doesn't fit snugly in the bracket, so it has quite a bit of wobble. Again though, good price and does what I need it to.

Basic mic stand. Can't handle anything too heavy--I have just one condenser mic on it, and it struggles to hold that up at the angle I set it at. And if I put anything else on it, like a shock mount, the arm itself buckles. Still, it does hold the mic up. Great if you're on a budget and don't need a super fancy setup.

It's not bad, just won't hold a large diaphragm condenser mic well unless you grab a couple of pairs of pliers and tighten the bolts as tightly as possible. Even then it slips. It would probably be ok for a small diaphragm or light dyanamic. Even a Shure SM-58 is a little too heavy at certain positions.

the unit requires a minimum overhang of top of desk or table of 1 1/2 inch, which I don't have, so I will have to invent some other way to secure the mount. then I will be able to attach a mic to see if it will hold the weight of the mic. the arms seem to be a bit shorter than I anticipated, so after I mount the mic I will see if the boom provides sufficient range of motion.

Bought this thinking that the attachment screw would fit my Yeti blue microphone. Unfortunately the attachment is ever-so-slightly too small, and therefor the bit just falls out. 3 stars because its a fairly nice product at a good price point, and I'm sure it works well with MP's branded microphones - however the attachment included does not seem to work with the Yeti Blue (either via quality control problem or design problem).

If you're planning to use this in a fixed environment and not moving it to live gigs all the time, it's a good enough stand for most handheld microphones. But I DO unscrew the clamp and move it 3 or 4 days a week to gigs. Well, I used to. It's broken and will no longer hold itself up let alone with a microphone in its holder.
