Excellent film
Moonrise Kingdom is one of those little gems that most everyone with a light heart can enjoy. It has humor, action, suspense, and about everything you could look forward to in a good story. Leave expectations behind and don't compare movies like this to the action-packed block-busters you see all over. It's light-hearted and meant to be that way. I would say it feels like a pop-up book for many parts of it. Wes Anderson directs this film about children growing up in 1960s New England. The main characters meet at a play and make plans to run off together. Hilarity and discovery ensue as nearly the whole (small) community come running after them. This is probably one of Anderson's best works to date. It was rated PG-13 for sexual content and smoking, but I would include some violence on to that. Nothing that would keep anyone from watching it and enjoying it. One scene toward the end seems to make people uncomfortable as the two main characters have an intimate moment, but again nothing that would make this movie inappropriate for people over age 13.
