I use this in all of my custom soil mixes, for a drainage layer at the bottom of my outdoors container pots, and for making charcoal vents in my larger pots. It's even a nice amendment in raised flowerbeds. It is extremely messy. Wear gloves when using.

I have recently started collecting plants and it really helps to add this to the soil mixture when repotting. Charcoal helps with excess moisture and balancing the pH levels. So far all my plants are thriving.
