If your in the market for a new TM you should consider this. I have not used the Garmin or Lowrance but I have used the Minnkota with spotlock. I like the Motorguide more than Minnkota. This is one solid TM. Functionality is unbelievable, Tons of power, smooth foot pedal. Save a 1000 bucks and go with the company that has been doing it from day one.

once install, you drive the boat around making a 360-degree circle 2 times until it beeps. Once it beeps, it means, it's supposed to have its co-ordinance locked and ready to use. However, this thing is constantly hunting, constantly rocking back and forth. the manual said to tighten the foot control screw on the underside of the foot control. Now. to get it to stop rocking back and forth and constantly hunting for a position, the control pedal screw is so tight you can't depress the control pedal to make it turn either direction. All which are part of the product instructions. I am extremely dissatisfied with this product; it's a fight to use my boat's trolling motor, and I hate it.

First of all, my husband has owned motor guide trolling motors for years. He thought this one would be no different and hold up to the name, BIG mistake! He thought at first he just had to get use to the other options this one offered, little did we know, it pretty much has been junk since day one. Of course by the time he realized this, it was too late to return it. It has now been in the repair shop for over three and a half months and no use to my husband for longer than this because of it being faulty (when trying to use the trolling motor, it jerks and twists really bad, in my opinion it could be really dangerous) round trip for us to have it repaired is more than 220 miles. So, NO WAY would we ever recommend this trolling motor, really disappointed in motor guide.
