quality is fair. Could reach 5miles in ski resort. One caveat:not compatible with normal headphone
I'm a trail cam hobbyist and set cameras up deep in the mountains where I'm able to capture videos of our local wildlife. While I love my time out there, I always have to be aware of where I'm at and what I'm doing because there is no cell service out where I like to go. I have a friend that lives not too far from my cam area and because she's remote, she has a landline. I bought this set of two radios and gave one to her and I kept the other. Any time I go out, I text her while I'm still in range to let her know where I'm going and she turns the radio on. That way if I run into an issue, I can reach her. I make sure to let her know when I'm back in civilization. The range is listed as 35 miles, but I think that would be difficult in the heavily wooded mountain terrain near me. However, we've tested the radios up to 5-10 miles and they work well, better when I'm closed to the top of a hill vs down in a valley. I love that they are rechargeable. If I don't remember to top off the charge before I go out, I can charge it in the car. The units are compact but sturdy, which is great because it's usually clipped to my backpack. I still carry an emergency GPS satellite unit, but I'd hate to activate it for something silly like a flat tire. I haven't had to use the radios for an emergency so far, but I'd rather be over prepared.
We are going to like the talkies very much. They will be a big help when my husband goes in his workshops and I need to get in touch with him or vise versus.
Forget the 35 miles. 1 mile good communication with hill and trees. Good voice transmission. Didn't try it at the beach for maximum range. I expected better range in the high setting. Solidly built, easy to use. I like the light.
Much clearer than lower models. Good two way. The range is never what they say though good radio.
they didn't work as well as stated
I got this to use at work with another motorola walkie and it is hard to get it set to the frequency that they use so i guess i wasted money caus it is to much work to get it going.
If you were planning to connect it with commercial Motorola forget it it's not compatible
