Surprisingly, tasty! I gobbled up the entire packet. It's not salty like other camping food I've tried. I'm a remote construction worker, without access to a microwave, a fridge or nearby restaurants, and I got tired of cold canned food and salty snacks. I bought a 12v water kettle and just add the hot water to the packet during lunch. Convenient and tasty! I'd buy again!

Better Than Canned

Cheyenne October 4, 2025

Portions are more like one meal per bag for hiking, around 400-600 calories total. Very easy and it's a nice warm meal after a long day, just boil water and let it sit for 10 minutes. The meat is excellent, and the pasta has a better texture than the canned pasta. Lightweight and easy to pack. Eat right out of the zip bag and burn or pack out the small amount of garbage. Love the packaging.

simply the best

HonestReview October 18, 2025

These are phenomenal. I keep them around for power outages or when I need a meal on the go in the middle of nowhere. They taste great and you just add boiling water, stir and let sit for about 10 minutes. Warm and tasty. Easy to clean up. No dishes to wash.

Hot Biscuits, No Dishes

Oliver November 8, 2025

This here’s my all-time favorite freeze-dried grub from Mountain House. Those biscuits and gravy hit harder than a stampede after a cold night on the trail — good, hearty stuff that’ll stick to your ribs. Shelf life’s longer than a desert sunset, and it’s light as tumbleweed in your pack. Cooks right in the bag, so no dishes to wrangle. Just a heads-up — there ain’t no measuring cup, so make sure your boilin’ rig’s got one handy. I let mine soak a little longer than the label says, and if I’m car campin’, I throw in some extra sausage for good measure. Mighty fine eatin’ under the stars

Very tasty if you love Stroganoff

Robert December 3, 2025

It's been my favorite main course meal that Mountain House makes. The 2 serving package is very filling too. With all Freeze-dried products that I use I add an extra 2 ounces of hard-boiled water to every package to make sure it rehydrates. Nobody likes crunchy noodles, but the beef chunks still come out a little crunchy and I let the package sit about 20-30 minutes. Best of all you can eat right out of the package and when done roll it up and zip it shut. When camping we pack it in, and we pack it out.

This products price is high because it has a high value . The convenience of not needing to wash or even possess a pot or pan to prepare this meal must be considered when evaluating it . Tear open the sealed package , remove the preservation packet . Revealing the pleasant aroma of a carefully chosen selection of ingredients . Pre - measured prepared ingredients that will retain flavor and nutritional value that will invigorate body and senses giving a step up in survival . A nominal measure of boiling water introduced into the original package which includes a zip closure and a short amount of time is all that is necessary . The only drawback I see is that a spoon 🥄 was not included . This along with the water and a heat source is all that a consumer needs to provide for a high value meal .

Absolutely love this Mountain House

Erika November 28, 2025

Absolutely love this Mountain House 6-pouch bundle! The meals are super easy to prepare—just add hot water—and they taste surprisingly good for freeze-dried food. Perfect for emergencies, camping, backpacking, or even keeping in the car for long trips. The pouches are lightweight, store well, and have a long shelf life, which gives me real peace of mind. Great quality, great value, and very convenient. I would definitely buy this again and recommend it to anyone building an emergency kit or who loves outdoor adventures!

Tragic if discontinued

Viavia December 15, 2025

Eating my first bowl from the multi-serving can. It is so delicious with a wonderful gravy-broth that I don't want it to ever be discontinued. The ingredients are so healthy! I don't want canned soup. People - buy this! I eat it at home. Cooked on stovetop. Yummmmm

I’d get it again.

Miles September 29, 2025

It’s a easy way to get something warm and tasty. That water needs to be as hot as possible and you want to put in just a smidge below what they recommend and then don’t rush it. I ate one of these where the potatoes were still a little crunchy because I didn’t wait long enough to let everything rehydrate.

If you’re storing it for shtf go ahead

Susan March 7, 2026

If you’re actually going to eat it like I did… yuck. At least I tried to eat it. Who adds ‘smoke flavor’ to eggs? That’s not why I said it wasn’t good, after rehydrating (per instructions) it still needed a little extra time. It was still crunchy and gooey. I recommended it because its ingredients were only what it was supposed to be. If you’re eating it to keep from starving, you probably won’t have better. If you’re trying to cook something nutritious for breakfast, it’s fast. Crunchy and gooey.
