My initial delivery of the ground beef #10 Can was damaged. MH replaced immediately. This product is excellent. Not only easy to use, but tasty as well. I recommend MH products to everyone. Best on the market in my opinion.
I ‘m a beginner at prepping and Mountain House fit the bill. I wanted protein in my stock for emergencies. Seeing that it is good for 30 years I figure if I never need it I can pass it down to someone that does. I have gone camping and tried some of their meal pouches and they were very good. The only thing about the pouches is that it says 2 servings and I could eat the whole thing. I am not a big person at 120 pounds. Mountain House really stands out when picking up emergency food or camping. I will definitely buy again. I tell all my family and friends this is the best value of protein meals compared to any of the competition.
Mountain House long term foods are hands down the best in the business for taste and wholesomeness of ingredients. I have to also add that the web site is one of the few where the "notify me when .. " actually does what it says and not just grab your e-mail for marketing purposes! Refreshing. But getting back to the first thing I spoke of, taste, while yes it's great for camping and/or emergency food stores, it's so tasty that my wife and I will often have their prepared meals because it's that good!
So we like to use this to make a big pot of chili. Basically the bare bones version of this is fully backpackable for weeks wilderness style. Freeze dried onions, a bag of black beans, canned tomatoes and your choice of spices. Slow cook the beans tomatoes and spice over the campfire all day it only gets better the longer you can keep it going. Add the dried ground beef up to an hour before you want to eat. It still soaks in the flavor and keeps its form. If we are not full on roughing it, less walking with everything in the pack. It's good to have around when cooler space and ice are a premium. Fresh tomatoes, onions and jalapeños throw in ketchup, cummin and McCormick's chili powder cook it down and add the beef with less than an hour of cook time left and this is as good as it gets.
Will be buying more in near future and other products as well.
Thank you for making a great ground beef product it's a great addition to our meals. I want to buy more #10 cans of chicken, steak and ground beef. Please hire more staff so you can keep up with demand.
The shipping container was beaten up pretty bad. However, the contents of ground beef was in good shape. The container was left on the front porch and a bear had come by to try to get into the container. The package was messed up but the food was good. Those shipping containers are bear proof!!
I bought this for food storage. I based my purchase on two things. 1. Past experiences eating Mountain House out on the trail. 2. I couldn't pass up the pricing opportunity, so I stocked up. I finally feel like i'm at a comfortable level should I ever need it
You would think reconstituted hamburger yuck but you would be wrong! I love to have a can in our fruit cellar on our off grid homestead at all times. So easy to use and what a timesaver! We are in Colorado's high country surrounded by burn scars and now experiencing flash flooding. Access in and out has been cutoff 3 times already this summer and I am sure glad I have Mountain House Ground Beef on hand. I get my ground beef from Mac Marvels on Walmart.com. Excellent price, fast free shipping! You can't get any better than that! Give them a try you will be amazed!
I repackage these into smaller vacuum sealed, zip lock bags. And then use them on long distance hikes like the Pacific Crest Trail and Appalachian Trail. I boil water and use them with ramen and dehydrated vegetables for a great, moderate cost meal. Super tasty and healthful.
