You'll either love it or hate it! "An acquired taste" and "Distinctively different," It's hard to describe because Moxie isn't your average sugary-sweet pop. It has been described as having "a bitter aftertaste that some say is similar to root-beer." The soft drink's unique herbal, slightly bitter flavor stems from gentian root, a botanical typically used to make cocktail bitters, such as Regan's and Angostura Gentian root is a bitter substance common in herbal medicine that can supposedly help cure ailments from sleeplessness, to digestive issues, to feebleness(esp. of the mind) ... Invented in 1876, Moxie was the first mass-produced soft drink in the U.S. In fact, the beverage predates Coca-Cola by a decade ( at one point, even surpassed the iconic beverage in sales) . Moxie's popularity declined during the Great Depression after the company drastically scaled down advertising .(Originally sold as a “nerve food” in 1884) >>>Moxie was designated the official soft drink of Maine on May 10, 2005. Each year, on the second Saturday of July, tens of thousands of Moxie enthusiasts from across the U.S. descend on the village of Lisbon Falls to celebrate the beloved beverage . New England state has been hosting the Moxie Day Festival since 1984 . . . > Moxie soda actually wasn't initially marketed as a sipping soda. It was supposed to be good for the nervous system. It started as an elixir that was said to cure things including “softening of the brain” and “loss of manhood.” To nobody's surprise, the FDA was not having those claims. In the early 1900s, the department said that Moxie could no longer be marketed as medicine, so the pivot was made to sell the already-carbonated beverage as soda
Moxie is one of my favorite sodas, but it costs way too much to have delivered
I grew up on this and love it only wish I could get it in Texas at a lower price.
After searching for Moxie for 6 months, was so happy to hear WalMart had it available Delivery was timely, my largest issue was the astronomical price! Not sure if I'll use WalMart again when ordering
So if you do not know what Moxie is, then let me help. Imagine a cola wanting to be a root beer, and a root beer wanting to be a cola, but failing at becoming something else so they became one thing, add caffeine, not too sweet, and you have Moxie.
Love moxie but late time I bboughit can not afford it I a n I dieing I am showing it have it to ask God Tod to brrring sing sing some it
This has always been my favorite drink. Wish we could get it closer and more often.
Fast shipping and great taste. My dad use to bring me to the store when I was kid and buy me a bottle of ice cold moxie. These cans are definitely as close as it gets.
Arrives fast. Moxie is the best soda ever created!!!
A favorite gift from Maine for my out-of-state grandchildren!
