This was perfect for my wife who intermittently forgets to flip the whistle/lid down and consequently ruins the pot due to leaving it on the burner until all the water boils off and tarnishes the kettle finish both internally and externally. The auto-closing whistle/lid is exactly what I wanted and similar to what I had as a youth when my mother drank hot tea every day. This will save my wife from ruining 2 or 3 kettles every year. :-)
I am pleased with my new tea kettle. I am pleased that the spout cap is metal and not plastic. I have had several other tea kettles where the cap is made of plastic and has melted. This one appears as it will last for quite a while. Also, the red handle is lovely!
This is a fantastic tea kettle! Whistle so loud I can hear it in my upstairs bedroom with the door closed! I cant even hear delivery drivers pounding on my door up there! Capacity is great, but sometimes I need to boil more than one pot, and thats where the word of caution comes in: If you need to boil two or more pots in a row, use a fork to remove the fill cover, and DO NOT HOLD THE KETTLE BY THE HANDLE WHILE DOUNG SO!!!!! A lot of steam will billow out of the pot and if your hand is right over it holding it by the handle, you will be scorched. I just set it down next to the sink, pull the cover off using a fork, and wait for the steam to fully escape. Then I can fill it up, but here is the second word of caution: AGAIN, DO NOT HOLD WITH YOUR HAND OVER THE FILL HOLE!!!!! THE FIRST SPLASH OF WATER INTO AN ALREADY HOT POT WILL STEAM UP AND SCORCH YOU!!! Just hold with your hand slightly to the side and you will be okay. They should have designed the handle a bit differently to avoid this problem.
This Pot fits on the largest Burner. Heats, up quickly by using the large burner, rivals the Microwave for Speed.
Over the years, we have had many different styles of tea kettles and this on is the best. It has a loud whistle and the spout and cap are all metal ...no plastic to degrade, crack, break, or leak. Use it multiple times daily.
I am so in love with this tea kettle! My favorite feature is how well-designed is, making it very easy to lift by the handle and pour. It is beautifully crafted and I am proud to display it on my stove!
I did not think this tea kettle would be so large. It would be perfect at half the size. The handle looked dead and dirty before I washed the kettle. The outside of kettle lost some of its shine after washing. The good part is that it did not take long to boil after putting one cup of water in it. I really enjoyed hearing it whistle and seeing the steam coming out of it like a locomotive train!!! Steam was coming out of the main hole and also underneath and was shooting out almost 2 feet. On the glass one I previously bought at BB&B for $9.99, it was boiling, but very barely whistling so you can hear it. By the time you hear the whistle on that one, the water would probably be evaporated because there was always less water than what I put in it. The measurements for this kettle are 10" H x 9" W on bottom and 24" around the middle. I did not realize when buying, that the name of it was "Mr. Coffee". I recommend this tea kettle if you want to hear it from another room!
This tea kettle (Mr. Coffee 2.4 quart) is large and cumbersome. It's not easy to fill due to the immobile handle. Also, it boils long before it whistles and the whistle is almost inaudibe in the next room. And the spout button does not lock in the open position and must be held down when pouring. Pouring is awkward, as the kettle must be tilted almost upside (while holding the button) allowing hot steam to rise toward your hand.
After the first use I noticed discoloring inside the kettle. I've only used the kettle 4 times. The inside is rusted. I will have to throw it away. I would not recommend this tea kettle.
Good looking but cheap it came thrown inside a cardboard box not the proper box one label stuck on the bottom of the tea kettle with that glue the Chinese favor. Not buying from this seller again again
