The Mr Cool 18,000 BTU mini split system 5th generation system is working great. I was able to install it myself with the included step by step instructions. I also went with the Mr Cool line cover plates to protect the lines but to also give it a clean finished look.
Doesn't come with stand but great unit!
I have had a super good experience with Mr Cool, from before questions on 'chat' to ordering and after installation questions. No doubt I would do it again.
I work at a retirement home, and we have a 10X40 addition to our dining room, which was always cold, because we would have to turn the main heat way up for it to reach the back of the addition, thereby making the main room too hot. This unit worked perfectly, and the price was great. The residents love the heat back there now!
Really, if you have any interest in installing this yourself... You should. The Company seems solid and the unit is flawless. I can't say enough about this unit and how well it works. This particular unit cools a ~500 sq ft space above our garage. It gets blistering hot up there and this unit just kills the heat. Do it!
I recently purchased this system to heat and cool my home workshop building. It arrived in very good condition with no damage either to the packaging or the unit itself. I had watched several Youtube videos showing individuals installing the systems they had purchased, and was impressed with the "DIY" feature, as I really didn't want to spend the money to have a licensed HVAC tech do the install. The installation manual, while not being overly detailed, did provide enough information to perform the install without any problems. It took two of us about a day and a half, and when we applied power to the outdoor unit, it began supplying hot air as expected. I'll have to wait until next summer to fully check out the A/C side of the system, but so far I'm very pleased with my purchase.
After a lot of careful research, I decided there was no real magic in being able to install a ductless unit to keep my garage cool in the summer. My Mr. Cool unit was just the thing I needed. Now the video makes the install look like it takes 20 minutes, and I am here to tell you this realistically does take a little planning, and a little time to install, but if you do your homework, the install is more physical than technical. The hardest part is making sure you are boring the hole in the right place cause let's face it, no one wants a 3 inch hole in their wall. Once you get it all laid out and planed and measured, cut the hole and install the unit. It really is that simple. I started my install around 11am and by 5pm I was as cool as a cucumber. The pre-charged lines are a breeze, and if you plan where you are going to install the outside unit, you can usually place it where you can make use of the extra line instead of coiling it up, but either way works fine. Don't kink the lines and you are good to go. This install saved me a bunch, and I recommend the unit to all of my friends. In a hot shop or garage, I recommend over-rating the unit just a bit. I did and it works perfectly for my space. Great home addition.
I just bought this unit with low expectations since I live in Florida. I decided to go mini splits over conventional so I can control costs. It was a good choice. Easy to install. Wall bracket should be built to adapt to standard 16 on center wall framing.
We've had this unit through the Summer until now (Jan.) It cools very well and has surprised me with the heat. We've had a couple really cold nights in the 20's and the unit has handled that very well. The only thing I dont like is the fan doesn't cycle on and off. But, other than that we love this little unit.
