Absolutely a staple in my home! These are a favorite dish to make either for lunch or dinner; along with some white sauce and garlic bread. If cooked correctly, these are some seriously tasty bites! I prefer to boil first till the outside is done before transferring to a sauté pan with butter and some garlic. I sauté until lightly browned and plate. A little white sauce, garnish with cheese, and these get devoured quickly. With two in the house, the bag of 48 easily makes us 4-6 meals but might vary depending on our appetite and/or guests. The resealable bag is a bonus!
I grew up on a town not far from Mrs T's It is a poor area of Pennsylvania in the coal region so you all have no idea how you help the locals with jobs. Pierogies were always the go to in the Slovak-Polish lived area . All the women made their own. This I believe was the first to mass produce it. . My mother had her own art to make it much Like how the Mrs T's are made. Expect she would roll a huge sheet of dough out and lift it up in the air and flipit= Tis was the Slovak- Polish Life of many women. The cheese and Potato was a way to stretch a meal.
these always taste good. perfect meal for a cold day for 1 person or a family .these have cheddar cheese and mashed potato inside the pasta shell. can be cooked in water, in a frying pan, air fryer or a microwave. the pasta shell has a nice soft texture. the way I cook these most of the time is in a frying pan with butter on a low flame. these are very filling
I'm a transplant Pole from Chicago and I do miss the smells and the flavors of the Polish shops in the neighborhood. Since I can't have them, these are the next best thing I have found available in this area. If anyone knows a good Polish shop in the area, please let me know. It doesn't mean I'll stop buying these. It just means I can get the good stuff once in a while without having to go to the old neighborhood just for a taste of home.
My grandfather says, back in his day, pierogies were sweet cheese filled. Potato cheese filled pierogies are his favorite, however, and mine too! Boil a whole 48 count bag for about 6-7 minutes. Pair it with kapusta and kiolbasa for an authentic meal for the whole family. Take out the regular noodles in your favorite soups and replace with pierogies (chicken noodle, zuppa toscana).
This is awesome for a quick snack while your family is waiting for dinner to be cooked be Cajun. I take me a couple hours to make dinner but this I can mix up a batch or air fry it and they can have something to nibble on before dinner is truly ready and they enjoy it and it taste good.
This I use in many different things. Baked, boiled, cooked in butter or gravy, they really work well in a lot of different dishes or even just by themselves. They also hold up good. Some things like this tend to fall apart while cooking, but generally these hold up pretty good, and they're tasty.
We love these. They are easy to make and so convenient. So if you don't want to cook for dinner throw these in the pot to boil, add a vegetable side and you're done. They're not my mom's but they'll do in a pinch. I try to always have these in my freezer.
These are cheese ravioli. I'm disappointed in these as pierogies, but after trying them, I can use them with a vodka marinara or brown butter sage sauce, a nice salad, and spumoni for dessert. If I was reviewing these as ravioli, I'd likely rate them much higher. They are one-note and don't stand alone, but they can work with some creative planning.
First, Mrs. T's are a Pittsburgh tradition and I respect that and I love watching them race at Pirates games (LOL). But, the company has to realize that they've been around for so long because of the loyalty of it's customers. When all the big brands cried how broke they were during the Covid pandemic and Mrs. T's basically said they had to cut back on the size and quality of their product, customers stood by them because, of course, they weren't going to ask any big shots in upper management to take a temporary pay cut until the pandemic was over. So, it's been over and customers are still paying a lot more money for an inferior product. And, all of these companies, including Mrs. T's, don't seem to be in any hurry to switch back to their original product that their customers enjoyed and got them to where they are today. So, I tried a competitor's. Their's, a local store brand perogie, were better tasting and flavored, had more filling, were larger, the dough was noticeably thicker so none were broken in the box or after cooking and they never got mushy no matter how they were prepared or even if they were inadvertently overcooked and...if that wasn't enough, they are half the price of Mrs. T's! I WAS TRULY SURPRISED. I was trying to find something negative about them to justify the low price, or maybe my guilty conscience since I've never purchased any perogies other than Mrs. T's, but I couldn't. I used to buy a family size bag of Mrs. T's perogies, in at least 3 different flavors every week. I purchased 2 bags to deep fry for the Steelers Monday Night football game and so many of them broke open I ended up using the store brand which my guests loved more than Mrs.T's hands down. Those were the only Mrs. T's perogies I have purchased since the pandemic was over and they failed to do the right thing and switch back to their original product and price and I will continue to buy the better, less expensive product until then. Maybe I'll never switch back. They're just taking advantage of their customers now and possibly opening the door for some other, lesser known companies, who stuck it out during the pandemic without taking advantage of their loyal customers, to get noticed. You know what they say.... NEVER GIVE YOUR COMPETITION AN OPPORTUNITY ... THEY JUST MAY TAKE IT. In a nutshell, I would not recommend purchasing a product for nearly twice it's original price, a third of it's original size and far below it's original quality.
