Not many things in life give me greater pleasure than stepping out of a nighttime shower after an intensive workout and dousing my entire body from feet to neck in 4711. It's a very mild formula and not at all overwhelming. It begins to dissipate as soon as its been applied and, as it dries, leaves behind just the faintest hint of an intoxicating fragrance. It reminds me simultaneously of barber shops and summer trips to the beach. A luxury experience at a bargain price.

as a young girl, this was the only scent I was permitted to wear, because it's very light and crisp and clean. I had no idea they still made this, I was delighted to see that Walmart has it, so I took a chance and ordered a small bottle of presuming that like everything else it would've changed dramatically. I was pleasantly surprised to see that it's exactly the same as it was 40 some years ago when I was given a tiny bottle of it for Christmas in Germany. I have since ordered the soap and a larger bottle, absolutely lovely smell, sort of a cross between lemon verbena and lavender. You can splash it on freely because it dissipates quickly leaving just a very very faint trace of it behind

I would have given this no stars if I could. 4711 cologne, has been one of my favorite for many years, with it's refreshing citrusy fragrance. I don't know what happened, if possibly damaged by heat in storage, or if the formula was changed. It did not have the citrus scent, just smelled a bit floral and sweet, sickening, not at all the way it should. I applied a dab to each wrist, anyway hoping that it might improve a bit, but nothing. Also the scent on my wrists all but disappeared as soon as it dried! Big disappointment. I even waited until winter to order it, so it wouldn't get hot in transit. I hope that it was heat damage and not a change in formulation, because, before this, it had a beautiful citrus aroma, which is so refreshing in summertime.

Does NOT smell anything like the 4711 Cologne I purchased at a high-end department store. IMO is not authentic 4711 Cologne. I'd avoid purchasing this product.
