The whole first grade team (4 classes) used these folders for Writer's Workshop. They are durable, they lasted all year long. The alphabet helps the students with the writing. It also helps students be organized. We are going to order them again for next year.
I use these for homework folders. They have all the letters in both cases, numbers up to 20, shapes names (including rhombus!), and color words so if a child needs help, they can look at their folder. Also, at the end of the day when they are waiting to get their bags, they can count and name the letters, etc.
This is a great folder for my kindergarten writers. They use it to help them spell words, see how to print letters and numbers, and to organize their work. I like having this information in front of them instead of using a word wall. My students use the folder, even when we are not doing writer's workshop. They know this is a tool they can access and use for writing support.
These folders are a great resource for writing. They are also a perfect way to help our Kindergarten class get organized. They are coated so water spills are not a problem. They are sturdy and hold up well,
I buy these every year for First Grade to keep all their writing in. They keep these in their desks and work on writing at different times of the day and for centers.
My kindergarten students were so excited when I passed these folders out. They use them as helps for writing words and learning sounds. They also "quiz" each other with the info.
My students use these folders to keep seatwork in and aid them when writing independently. I love the durability and easy wipe-off features.
The teachers love how organized that this makes our scholars. It's a great tool. Our scholars are always excited to take out their folders to write!
We use these folders for homework. They are great. The kids use the different as s means of practicing printing. This is our 8th year using them.
This is my second year buying these folders, and in my opinion, they are just okay. The information on the front and back cover is extremely useful and great for my first graders to have at a glance, however, in my experience they just cannot withstand the daily wear and tear students put on them. They rip easily, even with the outside of them being laminated. The cardboard material is very thin which also lends itself to tearing easily. I don't know about your class, but some of my writers tend to favor quantity over quality (LOL!) when it comes to writer's workshop, and as they fill the folders with more and more stories they quickly become unusable because they are bursting at the seams. So instead of spending writing time conferencing with students, I have to spend writing time taping folders back together. Not the most effective use of my time! Considering the price of a class set of folders, I would expect much better quality from Really Good Stuff.
