Glow all day!

Kam Kam July 21, 2019

So I wanted to change up my foundation so gave NARS a go after my cousin recommended it, first of all I have an OILY skin type so I avoid any foundation that has the word ‘radiant' in it. But let me tell you this foundation smoothed onto my face like second skin, the match was flawless, which isn't easy with a Caribbean skin tone, because we tend to have darker skin with lighter undertones which can be difficult to match perfectly! I took a sample from store a few days ago and decided to wear it to my daughters christening, my bf kept telling me how great my make up looked. I did my make around 10:15am and got home around 8:40pm, and my face still looked good, I did get extra shiny around maybe 4:00pm but it was a hot day and we were in a warm venue and also having oily skin I expected it but I didn't look bad! My skin looked hydrated rather than greasy, it held up way better than all my previous foundations! I don't even leave reviews on products but I really wanted to spread the word for anyone that needed help in deciding, because I find reviews helpful to read myself! That's what prompted me to give this foundation a try! My pores were a lot less visible compared to when I have worn other foundations and this gave me a really smooth and flawless finish! Because of the price I'd recommend getting your colour matched to your skin tone by one of the make up counter girls, and asking for a sample pot to take with you, which is what I did, because you can try before you buy and you have nothing to lose! TIPS: for my fellow oily skinned diva's, before applying your foundation, I'd recommend cleansing your face with a good cleanser and soap to give your face a fresh base and then using a primer which is also designed to be worn alone without moisturiser. This will reduce the excess shine on your face, without leaving your face ashy or dry. After applying foundation and concealer use a setting powder and let it bake before brushing the powder off! If it doesn't work feel free to message me lol. I know this is long but it is worth the read especially if you have a special event and want to look your best all day. Less is more, applying a thin layer will reduce the chances of excess oil coming through later and to regain the fresh make up look just carry a small brush with your setting powder and touch up where needed later on in the day which is what I did! Good luck trying!

Best foundation I've used!

Welshcake January 21, 2019

At first I had a sample, and wasn't compelety sold. I decided to buy the bottle more so because I struggle to find a foundation to match my skin tone, but Oslo is perfect! After using the bottle and being able to shake the foundation properly, it is amazing! I usually use EL double wear, but didn't like the cakey look... And I have tried so many alternatives to stay on my oily skin. This foundation stayed on my face all day... albeit a bit shiney on my nose, but it looked healthy, and it didn't slide off to touch. I have had so many compliments on this foundation and I can't recommend it highly enough!

Finally a shade that works - Huahine is amazing

Beautyfan March 23, 2018

I love this foundation for its natural and build able coverage. But most of all, it is the first time I have ever found a foundation that flatters my undertone - shade Huahine is truly amazing, and a shade like this has been missing in all make up brands! It matches my peachy, medium brown (indian looking) skintone, without looking too yellow. Please expand this shade into your other ranges. I have NEVER been able to wear foundation until now, for the reasons that make up brands were not making a shade for my undertone/level of shade. Thank you Nars

Beautuful

Zoecara January 16, 2020

I'm shocked at how many not so great reviews are nars well done on this lovely foundation. I use sheer glow.. but found it getting too oily on my face. This to me is a more matt version. I think it's beautiful. Please dont ever stop making it. I'm a true nars fan and this is my new go to base

Love it

Brittanyljy April 22, 2019

I've been using this continuously for about 9 months now and I will say, its not gonna be the best for those with oily skin, but I love it so much that I still stick by it!! I have oily skin and moderate acne (bumps and hyperpigmentation) and this does a good job concealing it. It doesnt accentuate pores nor does it cling on to dry patches - in fact it actually counters the dryness and appears smooth & seamless. I've had people compliment my skin in every setting (day/night/ flash photography) - it just looks like skin! I tend to lightly build it up and tap it into the skin with clean fingers and a damp beauty blender. Love it, but it really wasnt made for people with oily skin even but I'd still wear it anyway

With a primer, it's better

Kate0829 January 8, 2020

I was just curious how people like this foundation, and I was shocked to see that the first page was full of..unsatisfactory comments. I guess then I can share my experience with this foundation. On its own, without any primer or moisturizer, it really literally provides zero coverage and does sink into my pores, but then I have dry skin, white heads (they don't pop unless I put foundation on, it's not a big problem) and some discoloration. However, if I prep my skin the night before with an intensive moisturizing mask, and put on essence and cream to make my skin ready for makeup application, with the help of "a primer that corrects my skin tone and works well with other cosmetic products", then this foundation will look really good. As I am not into full coverage or cakey makeup, I will have to say something good about this foundation: 1. I have yellow/reddish undertone at the same time, I'm between Oslo and Deauville, but any color within this range works great on my skin, although Gobi would match me the best, but like today I put on Oslo (with makeup application involving steps described above), I don't look like a geisha at all. 2. Overtime, it does look more natural on your skin, and if I don't scratch my face, it sits really well still after 8 hours of work. 3. The price range is alright, considering this to be a product sold in department stores. 4. The range of colors offered is amazing. Like I said, I have yellow and reddish skin undertone, and I can find my best match here. Usually with other foundation, it's either too red or too yellow. All and all, I will only recommend this foundation for people for have normal skin, and nearly perfect skin. It does not go well under eyes, but won't crease on my face either.

Converted

Vickysponge84 November 23, 2018

I would explain my skin as dry and sensitive, other foundations I've tried stick to these areas or break me out or look heavy, I was sceptical with this one especially with the price point. I have to say I'm in love it doesn't stick to dry patches I can have the coverage I want to take away by dark acne scarring. It somehow makes my skin look plumped and hydrated. Interested in trying some other products

Average and pump is not safe

anum zohaib February 17, 2024

Last month I purchased this, I had used this before, after my purchase it was just okay I tried it again today and it did seem to separate and oxidize and overall gave a dry complexion but the coverage lasted. Also, contact with water makes it even cakier (I have combination skin and I had used hydrating water based products before this to prep my skin). It seems like a mid product however, my biggest issue was that I right now am on holiday and I had packed this foundation safely and made sure it wouldn't break or cause any leakage with all my other products in my makeup bag included with this foundation (keep in mind I brought another foundation along with me which was perfectly fine and nothing happened to) this seemed to be the only product that leaked all over when I went to use it, the inside of the packaging and over the whole bottle the foundation was completely smeared wasting a large sum of product. Supposedly it shouldn't have leaked as there were two barriers to it which were the lid and pump but clearly, that was no use to protect it and the packaging was cheap material that gave access to spillsures. I would rather purchase the pump separately than have it come with the foundation because it causes this mess and doesn't serve its function properly. Overall quality wise I'm disappointed considering the price point. May be overhyped for what it provides and personally it was a wasteful purchase in my opinion and experience unfortunately.

Very Disappointing

Natalie Charlotte November 13, 2018

I bought this over a month ago after running out of my usual NARS ‘Sheer Glow Foundation' (which I love and would have bought but was sold out in my colour) I usually go for a foundation that is either full coverage or build-able and this ticked the boxes. It promises 16 hour coverage however that simple is NOT the case! It literally sinks into your pours and makes them even more visible and leaves your skin just feeling greasy and to be honest like I had been sweating a day! The only way I can make this work (barely) is by covering my face with powder which irritates it and makes me breakout even more and even then the foundation has pretty much slid off my face before I can get the powder on my brush. Over all I would not recommend this product unless you are prepared to wear even more products than necessary. I can safely say that I will be switching to my old NARS foundation. Sorry I couldn't be more positive.

Cakey

Aamz September 19, 2018

Bought this foundation couple months ago and kept using it to see if it would get any better with usage. Unfortunately, all it does is make my skin look incredibly cakey and highlights an spots or pores i have. I have oily skin so thought this would be great but it isn't.
