I ordered the telescope for a middle school student that I don't know. I bought it for him because I wanted to interest him in science. The name National Geographic told me it was good quality. I also purchased it because the ad says it provides lots of lunar details, has two eye pieces, features downloadable sky software and seeing planetary features like Jupiter’s cloud belts or Saturn’s rings as well as some of the brightest objects in the sky. I trust the ad because I have purchased many good quality items from Sam's. When buying from Sam's I never worry about quality.
My youngest grandson is a Boy Scout. He was so excited to assemble and try out the telescope. It is amazing the clarity and distance that is available. Great scope for a young scout.
[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The National Geographic 70MM is a good starter telescope for kids. It was easy to set up and my 7 year old and 10 year old nephews enjoyed it. We were able to see the stars in the sky at night clearly. Overall this is a good telescope for kids.
I bought this for my 13 Yr Old Great Nephew. He was thrilled and sent me a great picture of the moon with it. He cannot wait for warmer weather so he can go outside more with it.
The tripod is shakey. The solar filter just sits on the lens, I though it would snap or screw into place. Haven't had much chance to use the telescope, because of cloud cover and cold weather.
Not so good, thought it would be a little better than what it was. The movement of the tube is very difficult either too stiff or too loose. Couldn’t really focus the telescope.
so it said delivered i was out of town my neighbor was in charge of packages and when i went to retrieve them from her the telescope was not in the mix. there is no picture proving delivery and o jave asked all sirrounding neighbors. cant really rate whay i dont have
The box and product were safely packed but the product was put in already aware of the damage. This was a Christmas gift for my autistic son who loves science. I looked through many reviews and never expected this after waiting a week to even receive the product. There's now no time left to exchange or return. Unbelievably disappointed, and furious the seller would knowingly send this product out.
Bought with intention of viewing the sun via enclosed filter but upon opening. Ugh. Very weak/cheap plastic construction. Still, tried using it but not able to actually mark it accomplished.
Save your money for a better unit. I just returned it to the store an hour ago because the objective lens was out of alignment due to the plastic it is made from. I really hoped it would be a good scope but....
