My son loves watching them and learning how they live up close, putting it together and starting it is so simple and easy! Can't get enough of these educational things from National Geographic

The ants are already making themselves at home. Great starter set for curious kids. Also, it has a light so you can see the activity inside.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This kit has been a lot of fun to put together and watch! Since I had to order the ants and they took FOREVER to arrive, my review is a bit delayed, but so far we've enjoyed watching them build tunnels in the gel. My 5th grader and everyone at home has to stop throughout the day to take a peek and make a comment about the habitat! This kit is mess-free, and I don't see any risk of ants escaping. So far, so good!

The any habitat is very durable and seal sealed tightly where the ants can't escape. This was really kool and fun for both me and my kids to do. Very easy to assemble.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] It was an ok product, it would have been nice if it came with live ants or something. We did have a hard time finding ants, but we managed. My son did enjoy it. He was fascinated by how thw ants dug and things like that. I would highly recommend.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] I did not know it is recommended to buy ants online vs finding them outside. I have ordered harvester ants that have not come in yet. I gave 4 stars just from doing my own research on the gel material. I believe they will do good for a month or 2 but the gel may not continue to provide enough nutrients for the ants. The package says you don't need to put anything else in the farm. However I will update once they come in and see how well it does. The light is neat, it comes with a magnifying glass and a little tool to poke the gel if the ants need a little help getting started. Overall it's a neat little experiment for the price and gives children and/or adults a look inside what ants do underground.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is such a great idea, and I love how it's a self-sustaining ecosystem. Growing up, we had to use sand and have water and food at the top, so this is a great upgrade. However, all of our ants got out... thankfully, we had it where they wouldn't take over our home. But maybe we will try again later on with different ants.

Directions seemed easy enough and we were very excited! But all the ants died in less then a week. Very disappointed and will be returning the item for a refund.
