We were able to see a good distance outside in the dark. He clearly looks happy and I'm very satisfied with the simplicity of the kit. He would stay outside for ours with this kit if we'd let him!

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This is a cute starter kit for kids 3-5 years old. It has the very basics for outdoors like flashlight, whistle and compass. The quality is light plastic but it's sturdy. For young kids, the plastic material is good to carry around without worrying it'll break when they drop them.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] This outdoor explorer kit comes with a working flashlight, a real compass, a whistle, and a field guide. It is all plastic so it's safe for kids. The downside is it's all pretty cheaply made. The compass isn't correct and I can already tell the whistle and the flashlight won't hold up for very long. This would be fine for younger kids to play around with, but for the kiddos who would want to use it for actual exploring, I'd suggest looking for something a little higher quality.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] Outdoor explorer kit is a cheap little toolkit that my kids enjoy. My son has used to the compass to “find treasure” around the house. Not sure about longevity of the product, but the kids are using it with their imaginations.

[This review was collected as part of a promotion.] The best part of this kit is the flashlight. It lights up well and is easy to use. I like that you have to push a button to turn it on and off so that the battery won't die if a kid leaves it on. The whistle in our kit didn't work at all, and the compass is a little wonky and seems like a cheap make. It takes a while for the needle to adjust to north. The booklet that comes with the kit is okay. It has a few mazes, and a couple picture games. My son (4.5) wanted to work on the checklist page where you can write what you find, but there is only one of these pages with a few lines.
