I like that it's only 70 calories per slice versus 100 calories for other forms of bread. I toast it (which makes it rough, but good) for my variety of creative sandwiches.
Well, it tasted just like bread. I was completely satisfied by that fact. So happy that it didn't taste like any other food. Because it is bread. The slices were a few microns off from one another, but I won't hold that against them. Very handy to put on either side of cheese and your choice of lunch meat. Porous enough even to hold mayo or your favorite dressing.
I am not a big bread eater, but when I do want a nice sandwich, I find myself craving Nature's Own Honey Wheat Sandwich Bread. It is always fresh, soft, and airy, and it smells and tastes delicious. It reminds me of the bakery bread I had as a kid and the French toast my dad used to make with it. There is a gentle hint of honey and butter, and if I am going to eat bread, this is the one I want because I truly enjoy it. Every loaf I have bought has been full of flavor. The slices are a little thicker than some name brands, but not so thick that you can't enjoy tuna, peanut butter and jelly, luncheon meat and cheese, or egg salad, which tastes amazing on this bread. It brings everyday sandwiches and snacks up a level in both flavor and enjoyment. The price is reasonable for the quality you get, and when you are in the mood for cinnamon toast, this bread will warm your belly. There is a lot of love baked into it.
The Nature’s Own Honey Wheat Sandwich Bread Loaf, 20 oz is one of the best everyday breads I’ve found. The slices are soft but sturdy enough to hold up to sandwiches without falling apart. It has a light sweetness from the honey that adds flavor without being overpowering. It’s great for everything from simple PB%26J to deli sandwiches and even toast in the morning. The texture stays fresh for several days when stored properly, and the loaf size is perfect for a household that goes through bread regularly. Overall, it’s a dependable, tasty option that works for just about any meal. Definitely a 5-star staple in our kitchen.
We have been buying this same bread for YEARS. Sadly, I've seen a decrease in quality of this bread over time. The slices have gotten smaller. The bread itself has become dry.... Dry like first slice after opening. It just doesn't taste the same way it used to. I'm on the hunt for another sliced bread like this because this brand/type has become a let down.
I had been buying this bread for years until I started a journey to eliminate all additives from my diet. I then realized this Honey Wheat formula has 2 high risk additives in it: Monoglycerides and Monocalcium Phosphate. I find it to be false advertisement that the brand has a statement on the front of the package that PROMISES they don’t use preservatives. That is not true. I encourage everyone to start doing their own research on what is in your food. We’re poisoning ourselves and the food companies do not care one bit!
The re-branding and re-formulation have ruined this bread that I had previously given five stars to. I am not alone in experiencing this recent change as the manufacturer (Flowers Foods) has updated its packaging and simplified the recipe. Many loyal fans have noted that this re-branding and ingredient shift has altered the familiar taste and texture of the bread. The "reduced quality" you're noticing comes down to a few industry-wide and brand-specific updates: Ingredient Switch: The company modified its recipe to include expeller-pressed canola oil rather than soybean oil, which some consumers report changes the flavor and aroma. Shrinkflation: Like many commercial baked goods, the physical size of the loaves has decreased slightly to manage rising production costs, leaving empty space in the bags while calorie and pricing metrics largely remain the same. Clean Labeling: To meet consumer demand for simpler, non-GMO labels, they stripped out some additives, which can naturally alter the shelf-life, softness, and chewiness of the bread. I will have to find an alternative now.
I noticed that this bread looks darker now. It does not taste the same. I have been eaiting this bread since the 90s. I found out that the formula changed. So I googled it and this is what they said. Why the Bread is Darker NowNatural Caramelization: Without artificial ingredients, the natural sugars present in the honey and whole wheat flour caramelize faster when baked, resulting in a deeper, more pronounced brown color in the crust and crumb. No Artificial Coloring: Past versions of the bread relied on commercial enhancements to maintain a lighter, more uniform appearance. The new, simpler recipe embraces a more natural, authentic "wheat bread" profile.Variable Wheat Flours: Depending on the seasonal harvest of whole wheat, the flour used can range in color. Without bleaching or chemical adjustments, this variance naturally darkens the bread.
We as a family have purchase this Bread ever sense Home Pride [ Wonder Bread ] sold out. You could not purchase Home Pride at that point for a long time. Up until 3-weeks ago something has changed with Nature's Own about the crust is so hard fills like it has already expired. My wife would take a knife and cut off the crust before eating. Now we look for other bread to purchase Great Value Butter Wheat over Nature's Own. I am looking to contact Nature's own to find out the problem. I have 4- Loves of this Bread that I have feeding the Birds everyday because we can't no long consume this poor quality Bread. At $4.00 a loaf I hope the Birds will enjoy. CARL
My son loved this bread until he did the water test. He wet the bread and it turned into a sponge , squeezing the water out , adding more water, same thing over and over a few times. And the bread would not bread down so imagine what it does to our insides. We stopped eating it.
