Finally, a good stock for the Nerf Modulus Blaster

Rahoe September 2, 2015

received this item from the Walmart Spark Review Program for no compensation - just an honest review. The Nerf line-up just keeps getting cooler. The Nerf Modulus ECS-10 Blaster is one awesome weapon – the best firing elite dart gun Nerf has made – in our humble opinion. One of the major flaws that me and my sons found in the Modulus was the included stock – as it seemed to bend easily and is prone to break. The Nerf Modulus Strike & Defend kit resolves this problem quite easily – with a new blaster stock for steadier shots. It easily clips onto the Modulus Blaster and is very secure. The added ability to also function as a 1 shot blaster was a cool form and functional positive here. This upgrade kit also includes a blast shield that mounts to your rail – and does actually afford a bit of face protection from your opponents looking to blast you in the head. The shield can flip down if it is interfering with your aim. You can see through the shield and the center has a built in sight/crosshairs as well. The upgraded stock adds about 1” in length to your modulus blaster, and it is not a wimpy blaster either – as it takes some effort to pull back and the elite darts come flying out with ferocious velocity comparable (but a bit slower) to that of the modulus blaster itself. No batteries are required here! These pieces are also interchangeable with other Nerf lines of blasters. The Nerf Modulus Strike and Defend Upgrade Kit is definitely worth it – if for no other reason than to replace the faulty/poorly designed O.E.M. stock on the Modulus Blaster.

turn it up a notch

Supersox October 4, 2015

Wow!! When I was a kid if you had a Nerf, you had a football. That was all the word Nerf meant. I really like the Modulus Blaster just as it is, but this upgrade takes the unit to an entire different level. These blaster are the ultimate in shoot em up fun. They give you plenty of distance to chase each other around the house or yard with accuracy and distance. At the same time I like how you cab blast you can take, or give, a hit at a close distance without any worry of injury. My favorite part of this kit has to be the shield. It allows me to shoot with abandon without worrying about the bullets that are coming right at my face. This allows me to continue following my target when I miss or when they are shooting back at me. The shoulder attachment gives the blaster some needed stability when shooting while changing my position or running. I love this thing

My kids love this nerf upgrade kit!

carebear1911 September 17, 2015

I have 4 boys and the 3 older ones are in love with Nerf guns so of course they had to have this Nerf Modulus upgrade kit. They do have the Nerf Modulus blaster (which is sold separately) so they wanted this upgrade kit for that specific blaster gun as it is one of their favorite new guns. We were also surprised to find out that this upgrade kit also fit on some of their other Nerf guns so while it is meant for the Nerf Modulus blaster it may also work for some of your children's other Nerf guns as well as it did for some of my children's other Nerf guns. It did not however fit on all of their Nerf guns so please keep that is mind. The kit includes a blaster stock for steadier shots, 2 darts and a blast shield that protects you. My oldest who is 13 and hardly ever really plays with toys besides on occasion Nerf guns and Bey blades, spent hours the day he got this playing with this upgrade kit on his Nerf guns and he thoroughly enjoyed himself as did my other boys while playing with this kit. He loves it and says that the darks seem to shoot farther with this upgrade kit. My children play with this upgrade kit daily it is a well made durable kit that will last for many years to come. If your child is a Nerf lover this upgrade kit is a must have especially if they own the Nerf Modulus blaster gun as this really does take their Nerf guns to the next level.

Nice upgrade kit

OregonTrailMom September 17, 2015

My son absolutely loved receiving this after receiving the initial Nerf Blaster. This upgrade kit provides a guard and extra blaster attachment. My kids tend to use both blasters separately to "battle" each other. I do wish this upgrade kit came with extra darts as well. While my kids do play with this very often, I think they would tend to play with it more if there were more darts included. The smaller blaster from this upgrade kit is a better "fit" for younger kids such as our 8 year old.

Nice Blaster

BossLady87401 September 14, 2015

My grandson already has the Nerf Modulus blaster which is sold separately. You can upgrade your blaster with the Strike and Defend Upgrade Kit! This full battle kit includes a blaster stock to steady your shot and a blast shield to protect your face. When you upgrade your blaster with these battle accessories, you're taking your game to the next level. Serious Nerf warriors can't afford to miss, so upgrade stat with the Strike and Defend Upgrade Kit. Strike and Defend Upgrade Kit lets you upgrade your Modulus blaster this item sold separately and includes blaster stock for a steadier shots blast shield protects you includes 2 darts.

It's a hit with the kids ;)

riviesmom September 5, 2015

Ok so all you mommies ( and maybe some daddies ) who have no clue what you are buying like I did, this review is for you! Lol. Of course I knew what Nerf was but no lie what an upgrade kit was, what it was for etc. well there are a few different upgrade kits for the modulus gun and this is one of them. This is a handle and a shield. The handle is bigger and sturdier than the one that comes on the gun and the shield goes on the top front of the gun to protect against incoming darts. Theae are just basic plastic in my opinion, nothing fancy and nothing overly sturdy but as long as the kids have basic respect for their toys then it should last a good while! One thing I was happily surprised to find was an extra set of foam darts in the box, always need extras of those since they get lost almost immediately! It makes me son happy but a bit expensive so I will give 4 stars, a great gift item.

Nerf Blaster

petefo September 20, 2015

This is another popular Nerf type gun. It is made of colorful durable plastic material. The toy is recommended for ages eight and older. There is a shield that mounts on a rail on the top slide and the toy is made to accept other add on options. Small hands can easily hold and use it and unlike other siimilar toys, it is very easy to load and shoot. Only two projectiles come with it but fortunately they are a standard size so you may have other "AMMO" on hand to use. The projectiles shoot out with surprising force so i will agree that eight and older is an appropriate age to play with this Nerf Gun.

Good in the right application

Campmaster55 September 14, 2015

First off, I have to admit I ordered the wrong item. I thought I was getting an upgrade kit for the grandson's blaster. Turns out that he does not have a compatible model. Oops. Fortunately his buddy has a perfect match so we tried it out the way it was intended to be used. The kit is designed as an extension to the stock on a Modulus Blaster. If you an adult or larger teen, the size of the base Modulus Blaster is too short to serve as a shoulder stock. It is not realistic to use the weapon in the same way you would a traditional rifle. This upgrade kit solves the problem by extending the stock to a traditional length. The problem is, if you are small, the stock is way too long to be functional. You have to hang the excess stock OVER your shoulder to be able to reach the trigger. It fit me just fine, but the grandson and his friend hated it when attached to the Modulus Blaster. The stock extension is also designed as a backup single shot pistol. While that may not be very useful when the stock extension is applied in its intended purpose, it turned out to be more than enough fun for the boys to fight over. The blast shield ise not much of a shield, but it supplies a cross-hair style aiming device that turns the pistol into a nice target gun. It also works much better when attempting to annoy the cats (who have long ago learned to avoid the huge blaster gun whenever it comes out of the closet). With the Modulus Blaster, this would be a perfect cheap upgrade that allows the gun to be used by larger people as a rifle. With the wrong gun or with smaller users, the upgrade is something I would not pick up.

Love the shield, Blaster is so-so

WildMonkeyMom September 14, 2015

The Nerf N-Strike Modulus system is one of Nerf more innovative blaster lines. By incorporating the accessory rail system and other attachment methods, NERF has built a Blaster than can be customized by the user in, they claim, over 1000 ways, if you buy the additional accessories. My seven year old is a bit of a NERF fanatic, and went nuts went she first saw the commercial for this series. Build your own blaster, what a fun toy! Well, the toy is fun, but I can see how it could get expensive to customize it very much. For her birthday, we got her both the Modulus ECS-10 Blaster and the Strike and Defend Upgrade kit. The blaster set starts off with the base ECS-10 Blaster, which is one of two main blaster types in the series. The other is the ECS-12, which is much costlier and includes a built in digital camera. The ECS-10 comes with a duel rail barrel extender, a pistol grip, a 10 shot banana clip, a storage stock extender and a targeting scope. The user can combine these pieces in a few different ways to customize the look of the blaster. You can then get upgrade kits to change it even more. The Strike and Defend upgrade kit includes a butt stock single shot gun and a shield. I like the idea of the shield. It folds down to the blaster when not in use and can help protect the eyes, face, or hands depending on where you place it. Even though they are foam and flexible plastic, Nerf darts can hurt when you get hit by them, so having a shield for the sensitive areas is nice. On that note, remember to always wear eye protection when playing Nerf with others so you don't get hit in the eye. The blaster butt stock is a nice custom stock, but the shooter part of it is poorly designed. It snaps onto the back of the main blaster and only fires a single shot. The upgrade kit comes with 2 darts, but there is no place to store the second dart. The first dart goes into the blaster, ready to fire. However, the big problem is, you cannot shoot the single shot while it is attached to the main blaster, as the firing part goes right up to the back of the raised tactical rail. It's also difficult to remove, taking two hands to push down slider buttons on each side. This makes it rather impractical as a blaster option in a Nerf War. As a butt stock option, though it's great. It is a much sturdier feeling butt stock than the storage stock extender that comes in the base kit.
