This was our first Nerf product and I have to say, we LOVE it! Have a very happy girl! The colors are very vibrant without being too girly. Light weight yet well made. "Shooting" distance and speed is safe enough for indoor play. We will definitely be purchasing more in the Nerf Rebelle line. Highly recommend!
The Nerf Rebelle Codebreaker Crossbow Blaster is very easy to assemble. You have three parts you have to attach, the bow front, the string, and the shoulder rest. All of these items easily clip into place for simple assembly of the toy within a few minutes, seconds even if you know what you are doing. Some of the features include beautiful "girly" colors, a lock code (which you easily program) that prevents the toy from firing accidentally, a shoulder rest for ease of control and aim, hand powered cocking mechanism, the trigger itself, and a loading mechanism with 8 different vibrant colored foam arrows with rubber tips. One of the arrows has multi-colored checkering on it, this is where the "codebreaker" comes in. The arrow has a "secret message" which you can uncover after slipping the arrow into the red decoder sleeve. I am assuming each "codebreaker" toy comes with a different code, ours happens to say ----, and it is written on the dart in three languages. I thought it was kind of silly only having one arrow with a code, however you may be able to buy extra parts, or if another child had a different toy I could see them being able to shoot secret messages back and forth. The packaging says that the toy is recommended for ages 8+, and for safety purposes that is probably a good idea, as the darts dont really hurt, but could if they were shot in an eye or something. However, my daughter (who is a few months shy of 3 years old) was able to hold, click, and fire the crossbow easily by herself with direct supervison. It is that easy. The only thing negative I really found was that sometimes while cocking to shoot it skips arrows in the barrel and so you have to click it a few more times to go all the way around until another arrow is at the base where it is ready to fire. Also you have to make sure while loading you get the little pin in the loading barrel inside the nerf arrow itself or the arrows can get stuck in the barrel of the crossbow. After playing with it for not long at all you really get the hang of it though and its really simple to use, and fun to shoot
This Nerf Rebelle code breaker crossbow is purple lavender and pink with multi colored darts. The colors are geared towards girls and female users but really anyone can use it. They do make other Nerf toys is dark blue and orange colors which seem geared towards boys and the male user so it is all about your color preference really. The real action draw string or pull string for the bow and arrow has that life like feel. One of the darts has red dots and that one is the decoder which you can make so only you know the code to use it. This creates an imaginative environment with endless pretend scenarios and situations. There are plenty of other Nerf Rebelle toys in various different styles and accessories making play time fun and endless. The arrows can be loaded all eight so you do not have to load one at a time you can load all eight and fire one after another for back to back play. The darts do hit a little hard so be aware of what your aiming towards and possibly more for outdoor fun if you do not like a ruff house type of play. This bow and arrow makes you feel like a real life hunter or spy or something. I do get the feeling this bow and arrow Nerf Rebelle was modeled or mimics an actual real life bow and arrow set. I would definitely recommend this toy!
I got the Nerf Rebelle Codebreaker Crossbow Blaster and gifted it to my granddaughter. . If you're like me you dread getting a toy loose from whatever they tied it down with. This package had plastic type cords that cut easily. (You might be able to pull and stretch them to break the cords). The assembly was easy and didn't take very long at all. My granddaughter found the Nerf crossbow to be fun, but not the simplest to load or use. It has a secret combination lock that can only be unlocked with the correct pass-code. You have to set the pass-code initially (Be sure to keep the new pass-code in a safe place!). We noticed that the pass-code had to be set again sometimes. The color scheme draws you to thinking it is a girl's only toy but a lot of boys (grandsons) will find its colors to be okay. We have a very happy granddaughter! The colors are very vibrant without being too girly. Light weight yet well made. "Shooting" distance and speed is safe enough for indoor play. We will definitely be purchasing more in the Nerf Rebelle line. Based on her play time we highly recommend it to parents / grandparents looking for a fun toy!
The Nerf Rebelle Codebreaker Crossbow Blaster is really fun. It came in three pieces that were easily popped together. It comes with 8 darts. It also comes with a decoder cover for one of the darts. Only one dart has a message on it, that dart is speckled with red dots, so you know which one to decode. There is also an option on the crossbow to put in a special code so only the person who knows the code can use the crossbow. I did not allow my girls to put a code in, because they are sharing between them and with their friends, so I didn't see the point of choosing a code that everyone would know anyway. The crossbow is purple and blue with pink accents. I do feel that it is geared more for girls, because of the name and the colors. But I think any boy would think this is really fun too. I was very surprised by how hard the darts hit when shot. It's very well made. I would recommend this crossbow for a birthday or Christmas present to any child. I think adults who like or collect Nerf gear would appreciate this crossbow also.
the nerf rebelle codebreaker crossbow blaster comes with eight darts, decoder, and instructions. the darts include one with a secret code imprinted on it you use the red tube decoder to read the secreat message. one thing i do not like is about every fourth fire a dart gets stuck in the chamber. it is easy to remove the dart though. i do advise that no child under eight play with the cosebreaker blaster. the darts sting when they hit you and should never be shot at the face. there is a secreat combination lock that makes it so the user is the only one that can use it. another use could be a parent lock so the parent has the code and can suppervise the amount of time used. this is such a fun game for children over eight and adults alike.the darts fly a long way so keep trck where they land. so i recomend this toy it is a great way to have fun with others.
My girls (ages 10, 8, 6) are archers. They have their real long bows and practice with real arrows on 3-D targets. They have asked for a crossbow because they think it's easier (and it is). We can't afford to get them all a real crossbow so I thought this would be something they would all enjoy. The colors are bright and vibrant. It was easy to set up and the directions are very easy. I liked the idea of it having a safety (combination) to prevent them from using it without approval (treat ALL weapons as if real is a BIG rule in our house). First issue we had is that the combination moves on it's own. Almost after every shot, the combination had to be reset. Second issue we had was the slide doesn't stay put at the front. It tends to move easily, also preventing a shot. Third issue we had was the rotating drum holding the "arrows" also moves easily and it pretty much has to be perfect for it to shoot. Forth issue, when we did get the trigger to work, many times the string would just got past the arrow and the arrow just stay put. After a few "blank shots", the foam arrows started splitting and getting stuck. Many times we tried to shoot, and it just wouldn't. It became a frustration pretty quick. The instructions clearly state not to alter the arrows, so I didn't try to tape them together. I figured might make things worst. When it did work (it worked a few times), it did shoot straight and really far away. They were shooting at cardboard targets and it made a loud sound which made it realistic. We (my husband and I) tried shooting at each other to see how hard they would shoot and to see if it was a hazard, and we found out it really doesn't hurt. (Either way, my girls shoot at their targets only.) Overall, there were too many issues for me to recommend it.
This nerf crossbow is fun, but not the simplest to load or use. The combination you have to set, it easily changes while playing, and you have to redo it then in order to shoot a dart again, which can take a few moments. The trigger slide also gets stuck easily, so you have to try a couple times to shoot. It comes with a "decoder" to reveal a secret message on the darts, but only one dart has anything on it, and it can be easily read without the decoder. This extra I could have done without, unless they made it possible for you to write secret messages on the darts yourself or something. It is a fun crossbow, but it isn't the best.
I got this crossbow for my 11 year old daughter. She has been interested in bows and arrows ever since the Hunger Games movies came out. This product was easy to take out from the packaging and did not take much “assembly”. This is her second Nerf Rebelle product. She loves the purple/blue color and the designs of the crossbow and arrows. It was a little tricky at first figuring how to shoot the crossbow, but we eventually did figure it out. I am only giving this product 2 stars as it does “jam” quite a bit. My daughter was frustrated as she would pull back and then take aim only to find that the trigger was stuck. A few times we noticed that the pullback piece was not catching onto the crossbow string. Other times it would catch but the trigger would still stick. We would take out all arrows and check every little piece. At times we were successful in getting it to work, other times; we would give up as we were getting frustrated. At the time being, it is still stuck and we will be googling/youtubing ways to get it to work again. My husband may have to open the thing apart to see what's going on.
I'd recommend choosing a different Nerf toy as this crossbow could be a lot of fun, but it really does NOT function well. My daughter liked the secret combo lock you can set so only you can shoot it (only the 2nd digit matters, so parents can easily reset it). You load the revolver with 8 darts and pull the bottom handle toward you then back, which rotates the revolving dart magazine, every time you "want to" fire. The problem is, it doesn't always fire. It frustrated my 7 year old by jamming a lot or locking the trigger so it can't fire. If the dart isn't completely pushed in all the way it locks the trigger so you can't shoot, but you don't find that out until you try to shoot it. It would take a while to go around the revolver again and find a dart that would shoot after it locked the trigger. Younger kids don't always make sure they are loading the darts with the little pin in the middle of the dart, You don't notice it's not in right until the magazine turns and the dart gets mushed. If that was the only problem she'd probably just be more careful and eventually get better at using it. The biggest problem however, is the crossbow's elastic string that hits the end of the dart to send it flying damaged 3 of the 8 darts after just 15 minutes of playing with it. Damaged darts, of course, cause more jamming and some are completely unusable. She hasn't bothered to play with it since that first disappointing time.
