Nest Cam IQ Outdoor Security Camera

I like this excellent Nest Camera IQ outdoor model since it delivers one of the best resolution and service from Nest aware. Walmart is the only merchant whom I was able to purchased this discontinued model in April 3, 2021. Thanks Walmart.

Software a bit tricky. Google could do a better job intergrating Google Home with Nest. Seems like two programs mashed together.

The Nest IQ outdoor cam is a little on the expensive side but the the quality is well work it.

We recently purchased 2 Nest Outdoor IQ Cams after researching various other brands. We are highly satisfied with our decision to go with the Nest brand because we already use the Nest thermostat and the symmetry of all devices has been wonderful. We can control everything from our phones on the same app. I am especially impressed with the ease of adding video clips to our video library.

We got this camera to be able to communicate with the kids during this time as we both had to continue to work as working in healthcare. With that being said we installed this in the kitchen to be to see the computers and talk to the kids and answer any questions that they may have had on their homework. It's also a great security camera to be able to monitor the kids and their activities.

This is a awesome WiFi security camera. The physical camera is stationary but the lens automatically follows people and animals. Images are very clear even with the inferred lens at night. You can clearly listen to sounds and clearly speak live to anyone at your door through its speaker. So why did I not rank it 5 stars if it is so great! Buyer beware! There is only one cable (with AC adapter) and it is 25 feet long. At the most, I could have gotten by with 4 feet as I had installed an outdoor outlet near where the camera was to be installed. When the camera arrived I was disappointed to find no additional shorter cable in the box. When speaking to a sales representative over the telephone, he confirmed that Nest does not provide an additional shorter cable because most people need the length to snake along the outside wall to some per-existing outdoor outlet near ground level. Someone on a Nest Blog suggested customers stuff the cable into the wall. That was definitely not going to be a solution for me! I ended up installing a covered electrical box between the outlet and the camera. I determined that I could not cut down and splice the cable because of potentially compromising the camera's warranty and potentially causing harm to the camera's electrical components by removing wire and electrical resistance. Mounting the camera was easy and only took few minutes. However, mounting the box and installing the cable inside the box was frustrating and took way too much time. The electrical box is not attractive and should not have been necessary to hide 23 feet of cable! See photograph. If Nest had provided a very shorter appropriately gauged cable as an alternative to the 25 foot cable, they would have gotten a 5-star rating.

I echo the sentiments of many reviewers here that this is a quality product that looks good on the house. The big exception to this is for those who want geofencing (the ability of the camera to use your phone to turn the product and alerts on and off when you leave the home). Nest calls this their "Home/Away Assist" feature. It simply does not work. A simple google search will reveal that this is a big problem for customers. Nest's website community discussion is loaded with customers trying to get this to work. I (and many others) have tried all of the many "fixes" suggested by Nest to no avail. For the most expensive security cam on the market, this is not acceptable. If this is not an important feature to you and you do not mind manually opening the app and turning your cam on and off when you come and go, then you should be happy with this product.

I bought 2 of these NEST IQ OUTDOOR security cameras and 15 months later (they have 1 year warranty) one of them just stopped working. Just stopped functioning out of the blue, a camera that costs so much money should work for years not months. I was chatting with a customer service person from google and what I ended up with after a 2 hour chat back n forth but was a recommendation to buy another security device from Google. No thank you! I would not recommend anyone buy one as you may have to go buy another one a year (and 3 months) later.
