Mixed feelings: But...so far, so good.

Rich August 29, 2020

I ordered the NETGEAR AC1750 WiFi Mesh Extender (EX6250-100NAS) through Walmart.com. It arrived promptly. I went to pick it up at my local Walmart, but unfortunately waited over 20 minutes (with no line) at the Pick-Up counter because this Walmart is clearly understaffed. Yes, I pushed the button to let them know I was there about every 5 minutes. Of course, this has absolutely nothing to do with the product and everything to do with Walmart. After bringing the item home and opening it up, I read through the directions carefully. I followed the "Quick Start" procedures as outlined in the instructions. It takes quite some time for the power light to turn green (4-5 minutes). Also, the device did not work with the "Connect with WPS." This step was tried twice. I subsequently had to follow the "Connect with the Nighthawk app" set of instructions. In doing so, one must download the app, create an account and sign-in. Yup. Take a deep breath...cause you know it will take some time to hook this thing up...probably like most other WiFi extenders. Anyway, I hooked it up and everything was fine for about 10 minutes. Then our WiFi/Internet crashed. I am not sure why it shut down. It may have been this device...it may not have. It was quite a coincidence. Anyway, I then called up Comcast (you know those calls always take 20 to 30 minutes and ask if you have unplugged the router...which I did, etc.). Anyway, I unplugged the new NETGEAR WiFi mesh extender and put back our old NETGEAR WiFi extender (N300). Comcast reset things on their end and everything was working fine again. I waited a week and went through the motions setting up the NETGEAR AC1750 WiFi Mesh Extender (EX6250-100NAS) again. It took about 20 minutes this time. It is now the next day. Our WiFi/internet service has not been interrupted. The product has a good range (maybe 20 to 30 feet in all directions at full strength) and the main issue we were experiencing (low bandwidth, low range, lots of waiting for the circle of frustration, etc.) with our television in the main room seems to be mostly resolved. So in general this product is not perfect and there may be some "heavy lifting" during set-up, but it is most likely worth it. In summary, I have mixed feelings: but...so far, so good. Hope you have a positive experience with this item. On a side note: the N300 was very easy to install and worked without any issues right out of the box...but just didn't have the range. So, we needed a more powerful extender...hence our new purchase. Netgear seems like a good and helpful company. Also, the Nighthawk app needs some work. I rarely use the app and it is nearly impossible to retrieve your username and password. I was also looking for additional information I saw on the app earlier, but after set-up I could not view this information. Netgear: If you are reading this review, please consider making your Nighthawk app easier to use...pretty please!!!

Happy I bought it

Regor July 1, 2020

Exceeded my expectations given my poor experience with a poor quality Extender. Spend the extra money and step up to the Netgear Mesh Extender vs lower frequency ones. If you setup with same WiFi name as your router, be mindful that once setup move the extender to the Intended location to pick up the signal from Extender otherwise if setting up next to router you will only pick up router and not Extender and may think your Mesh Extender is not setup!

little glitches

Kimmee June 14, 2026

this is my 2nd system. 1st one had died on me. this one occasionally has the device light show red. I have to restart it to make it work again. I wish I knew why it does it. When I emailed the company on my last one they said it was probably a product malfunction. I hope it doesn't happen with this one again. other than that it works fine.

Great product but buy an Orbi instead

ekirk August 31, 2020

Since this connects to your main wireless router, you need to know the user name and password prior to connecting the extender, otherwise it won't work. Since I have Netgear, I had to download the Nighthawk app on my cellphone to connect it. Although I like the product, the only reason I bought it is because I already have one extender and needed to add 5G wireless capability to a 3rd building on the property. If I didn't already have an existing extender, I would have purchased the Orbi product. My neighbor has one , and the range with his is much better. But overall I'm happy with it as it works well by extending the wireless range that wouldn't otherwise be possible.

Disappointed

Devon May 20, 2021

Have a netgear nighthawk router and thought this would connect no problem. Not so much. Continually drops signal or won't connect at all even when it is 6 feet from the router. Will be returning.

Extremely pleased with this Wifi Extender!

CCHH January 15, 2023

Very good Wifi Extender!! I had some trouble with the initial setup, but Tech Support was great with walking me through it, and they were very patient with me, which I appreciate. In our home we have 10 devices using the home Wifi, and two Firesticks. Sometimes connections would be spotty especially upstairs, and would not even extend to just outside the door. Now I can go in the backyard and my iphone and iPad stay connected. All of our devices are working perfectly with no connectivity issues.

When we paired this with our router, we lost the name and password of our internet connection, and couldn't get on internet. We had a router that was purchased in 2007. We had to call our service provider to get us back on. It had a great signal if we had been able to use it.

NETGEAR AC1750 WiFi Range Extender (EX6250)

George W December 19, 2024

The WiFi extender works well with my home network (ATT), and it was simple to install. I am using it in the extender (not access point) mode and a small Gigabit Ethernet switch connects three computers and a printer in my home office network. The incoming service is 1Gbps and the WiFi rate in my office is around 400Mbps receive and send. That's a great improvement from the 100Mbps using the previous WiFi from the Router. I plan to relocate the AC 1750 in a better place when possible.

AC1750 Mesh Extender (EX6250)

golfduffer50 March 6, 2026

I have had the NETGEAR AC1750 WiFi Mesh Extender (EX6250) for a while now. It does a great job both extending wifi inside the house and outside. I recently had to switch wireless networks though and had difficulty with the transfer. I ended up having to move the extender close to the wifi to get it to transfer.
