I have used the GS series of 8-port switches for years now and they have been outstanding in my home office network. I currently have 4 switches throughout the house and they work beautifully. The ability to configure the GS308 series is a plus, as I can go in and give the device a static IP address and not have to worry about finding it with any other tools. The ability to set Vlans and other settings is also a plus.
pretty simple and straightforward. Just works right out of the box. I tried to figure out which port was the “in” to bring a connection from my router, but realized it doesn't matter. I guess I was overthinking it, but it would have been great if the instructions said something about it not mattering so I could have saved the minute I spent turning the unit, looking for a specifically-labeled Ethernet port, and wondering if it would work as I had done it.
First class service, parcel very well packed, delivery very fast, high quality of the product. Information on the website clear and understandable. Overall outstanding service.
Upgraded from a 5-Port to an 8-Port Unmanaged Switch. Just hook it up to the modem and it works perfectly.
Plugged it in and it worked perfectly straight away. Just what I needed.
Was easy to install and started working immediately. Orbi didn't have enough LAN ports on its own and I was using the Comcast security router to tie in other devices. After the switch I noticed a significant increase in speed. I just have been really slowing down the GB speed in the old set up. Recommend use of this switch.
We recently rewired our home for ethernet ports throughout the house. Having used Netgear products in the past we wanted to continue with a brand we trust and that is dependable. Just like every other Netgear product we owned it was simple to use and works wonderfully. It's awesome to have wired access to all of our computers, video server, TVs, and gaming consoles. It really has improved our experience in that we aren't always buffering from wireless access!!
What's not to like about this 8-port switch, each port capable of 1 Gb/s, especially at its attractive price point? Zero configuration: any port any device, upstream device on any port, no worry about cross-over cables, just plug and play. Too, MS Windows networking capabilities have evolved to the point where your PC will find and use a printer located on this switch with no user involvement. Ditto Apple iOS, at least for my iPad (I do not use a MAC computer). Highly recommended.
It's lightweight, slim, but most importantly it works seamlessly with all my Ethernet wired devices to have a direct connection to the router that didn't have enough slots. Wired is still the most reliable when it's feasible. I was worried I might lose some speed with so many connections in just on port of the router but it seems minimal so far.
I purchased this witch to use in a church distribution system that feeds a number of wired stations and several wireless access points. Installation in place of an existing slower switch was quick and easy. The new switch consumes less power, runs cooler and the users are satisfied with the better performance of the network. You can't beat it at the price for an unmanaged switch.
