Neutrogena Build a Tan gradual sunless lotion does exactly what is promises it gradually darkens the tone of your skin. It allows you to control the tanning effect without harmful exposure to tanning beds or the sun itself and you choose your shade with just few applications. The lotion has a fresh scent to it I did not find it too strong or offensive and it dissipated within couple of hours of application. Apply this product to clean skin, it dries within a minute or two. You can either apply few times a day for a quicker effect or on a daily basis. It takes few hours to reach fully developed color. I did it daily and achieved healthy sun kissed glow by day 3 and didn't really notice fading until 4 days after last application. The lotion goes it easily, no streaks, it has a soothing and moisturizing properties when applied. One important thing to remember with any sunless tanning product is to wash your hands after application to avoid unwanted color on the palms of your hands. I like this product and I recommend it as a safe and effective alternative to tanning beds any time of the year.

Neutrogena build a tan is a product that I will recommend highly, I used the product for seven straight days, once a day and got a great looking tan. I have two teenage granddaughters that are both cheerleaders and they said they would use this product. It has a great smell and the hand putting it on with did not get discolored.I have not used for a week and you can still see the tan. This product is very easy to use and a little bit goes along way. If your looking for a tan without the sun, this is the product for you.

I don't go out doors a lot so I wanted to try the Neutrogena build-a-tan this says control your shade and it dries in only 5 minutes. The more you use it the darker your tan gets. This you use like a regular lotion you would apply to your body just makes sure you use it evenly and follow directions. This does have a nice scent not too strong at all and very easy to apply and use. So far I've tried it on my legs a couple of times and I do notice a difference I was going for a natural looking tan which this does give. They have a web site and a toll free number which I did call to ask about using it on my face as I know Neutrogena does have one for the face also they told me that I could use it on the face also but, not around the eyes. So I gave it a try and was hoping I wouldn't look like a raccoon. It did seem to work and also gave me a gradual looking natural tan as I was hoping for. I've used this product for about a week and a half now and I don't use it everyday either, just when I want to have a more healthy looking glow to me. This won't make you look orange at all like the old products or that some might still do. I have used Neutrogena products for years and it's also a trusted company. I'll keep this on hand and will continue to use it especially doing the cold winter months.

This review is for the NEUTROGENA BUILD-A-TAN Gradual Sunless Lotion. Yes it worked great and looks natural. The first thing I noticed is the scent. It's a very pleasant and light scent, it is not overpowering. Once it dried I didn't notice it at all. The lotion goes on smooth and creamy so it was very easy to apply evenly. I put some on my left leg only from my knee down so that I could compare. I used a generous amount, maybe a half dollar size and rubbed it in from my knee to my toes. After applying it took just a few minutes to dry. I forgot about it but then remembered to check about 5 hours later and wow there was a very slight glow. Not orange or yellow, it was a very natural look. It was very light, if I didn't have my other leg to compare to I might not have noticed the difference. The directions say to wait at least 8 hours before applying more. So the next day I applied a second time. Again I noticed a very slight change, just a bit darker. Then then next day I applied for the third time. After 5 hours it was amazing. My left leg now has a very nice natural looking light tan. I am very impressed. I must note that after a shower it does appear to fade just a slight tad bit, but not that much. I even used lots of soap but I do still have my tan. You can continue to go darker and I think I'll reapply about 2 more times to reach where I want to be. Then see if I need to do this daily to maintain or every other day or what. Since it does fade a tad bit after a shower I might need to keep reapplying every other day? But now I will go ahead and start tanning the other leg so I don't keep walking around with one tan and one pure white. Next I have to get up enough nerve to try my face. I only hesitate because I'm one of those that everything makes me break out. I most definitely will continue to use this product. I'll bet this is even more amazing over the top of a natural tan. Can't wait for summer to find out.

No bad smell skin is so much softer no streaking beautiful golden brown tan . I have tried others brands ... no comparison. This truly gives an even tan. It is great

Easy to apply with no streaks! I usually apply every couple days to keep up with the color. Definitely doesn't take as long to apply as other self tanners since this is just a lotion. I've also used it on my face and have had no issues!

I've used this product for quite awhile now and could no longer find it in the stores. when I was younger I just went in the sun, but as I get older and wiser thought this was a better choice. Love, love love this product Please don't discontinue.

Neutrogena Build-A-Tan Gradual Sunless Tanning Lotion, 6.7 Fl. Oz goes on very smoothly. You should spend ample time rubbing up and down and then side to side to assure that you apply it evenly. That being said it is a gradual color that you get over several applications so if you make a little mistake it won't show up like a regular immediate tanner would. Be sure to wash your hands with soap and water though, as they will tan as well. I used it two times in my photo. The photo shows one leg with tanner, one without (not to worry I evened it out after the picture for this review!!). The scent of this tanner is less noticeable than the faster products, however that sunless tanner scent is still noticeable even through jeans. I think this will be a great product for me in the spring in the south when we wear shorts as early as late January. I have pale skin to begin with so this gradual tanner is just what I need. It is something that I do not have to really fuss over. It is streak free due to its gradual nature and additional coats required to achieve a darker look, and it is moisturizing.

Pros -Dries quickly within 5 minutes -I can control how deep the color is by amount of applications -Good size tube (6.7 oz) -Only have to wait 1 hour before swimming or showering Cons -Heavy floral scent that lingers -Thin consistency, not thick like other sunless tanners that I have used. -Having to put it on everyday -Having to wait 8 hours between applications I use different sunless tanners that I only have to apply once per week and I only have to wait 3 hours in between applications instead of the 8 hours suggested on the Neutrogena tube. I will finish this tube of Neutrogena build a tan but I won't buy a new tube. I will stick with the one time application sunless tanners since it takes less of my time and I'm able to put on my usual lotion after my shower instead of the sunless tanner every day. I really don't like smelling like sunless tanner every day and this scent is very overpowering.

I did not like the color that it turned me too. I used gloves and it streaked on my legs. Also I used it twice and it did not do a good job on my legs. I was able to scrub it off very easily and was surprised how easy it was to remove.
