New Ohio Steel 42" / 22 CF Lawn Sweeper

We have a large yard with a mixture of grasses and weeds. The clipping from the mower bunch up in long bails. Raking is next to impossible, not to mention that it has to be done every time we mow. This lawn sweeper is an absolute dream come true! It’s without a doubt worth every penny. It’s a little tricky assembling, but not horrible. Once done, the operation of the sweeper is fantastic. It gathered so much. I have to think over 90% of all the clippings. I have hand issues but had no trouble pulling the rope that lifts the bagger to dump. You do have to move forward a bit to get past the giant pile of clippings that are dumped. This is to keep from lowering back on to the pile. But once you get that done, you’re left with a huge neat pile of clippings. We also have uneven ground and the sweeper had no problem continuing to gather debris. I’m sure that there are some people that expect perfection, but for me, I’m so happy with this purchase and would highly recommend it.

Solid build. Easy assembly, push pins, pull rings, some fasteners where required. Quick take down for storage. Sweeper height pull ring adjustable to hitch to your lawn tractor, pull cord dump from tractor seat. We have half an acre with several large oaks, sycamore, apple, maple trees, plus neighbors leaves. This sweeper is great, I didn't think it would work as well as it does. It picks up every leaf and maybe 50% of walnuts, I wasn't sure it would pick up any of the walnuts so that's a great plus for me. It's great that you can just back into your leaf pile, pull the string and dump the bag. For me my process is that I back into the pile then slightly pull forward, otherwise the bag will be pinned against the pile and much more difficult to dump with the string. The only thing slightly annoying is trying to put it away. It takes a lot of effort because the brush spins when the wheels turn and there's no way to disengage the brush. Not a deal breaker by any means, still a great tool and saves countless hours of leaf blowing or raking. I do wish I got the larger one now seeing how well it works and not realizing how quickly it fills up when you have good sized trees. The picture shows the ~15 loads of dumped leaves for my 1 acre lot. This was the first sweep of the season and it's October in Western NY so, the leaves started falling about 1.5 months ago. I have since run it 1 week later and picked up maybe 5-6 loads.

It really works for sweeping up leaf and pine needle debris. It’s sometimes necessary to make more than one pass. The adjustable height works so it won’t drag too heavy. I lifted it higher when pulling it down the driveway so as not to drag on the concrete and wear out the plastic bottom. It’s easy to do that.

For me , it was kinda difficult to assemble. No experience with yard sweepers. But, I figured it out. It takes some time to get it adjusted correctly. Once it's set up it works pretty good. Happy with purchase. Free next day delivery. That helped make my decision to buy from Walmart. I try to buy local, but I am talking 100 bucks. I hope it does well with leaves.

Wow, the Ohio Steel 42' sweeper is excellent. Picks up grass clippings, leaves, small twigs and debris. Made from professional-grade, heavy-duty materials. Comes with easy-to-follow assembly instructions. The owner's manual has a parts page in case you need to purchase replacement parts. You only need two crescent wrenches, and one person can have it together in 45 minutes. I went from having an ugly yard after mowing due to the rows my mower left to a beautiful, golf-course-looking lawn. Thank you, Ohio Steel.

I absolutely love!!! this. I had one yrs ago and when it finally wore out, I replaced it with with an Agri-Fab due to finances at that time. Big mistake. I finally gave up and bought another Ohio Steel lawn sweeper. It is extremely well made and will last me for years. The frame and hopper bag are heavy duty. It quickly attaches to mower, hight adjustment is easy, it sweeps very well and is super easy to empty. It takes a little time to put it together but I was able to do it myself even though I am a disabled female with advanced Rheumatoid Arthrits, have had multiple back surgeries and a shoulder replacement. Minimal tools needed. It is a great investiment.

"The directions are very complicated and not very easy to follow. I had parts put together and had to ""re-do"" things when the tires wouldn't rotate. Was disappointing. The quality seems to be there

It works, but no good instructions on how to use it effectively. Also, push pins fall out and have to be replaced by bolts. Instructions were written by a blind four handed drunk. If you are sufficiently mechanically inclined, this will work for you when you finish the manufacturing. If not, go somewhere and buy one assembled. If the instructions were fixed (paying for three or four more pages with good diagrams will not be costly) then this would be a four star.

Looked great at first, easy to assemble. Seemed heavy duty. On the 3rd use, I noticed the mesh was separating all around the top of the frame. Leaving large gaps and indicating this won’t catch grass for many more uses. Trying to get a replacement for the “Bag” now.
