This is a great product. With more material than previous sets in the Three Stooges series without a price increase, this is a great deal. Plus, these are some of the lesser shown shorts. I hope Sony decides to continue Three Stooges releases of this type for the full-length movies. Not all of them have been released on DVD, and it would be great to get them all together.
The final in the 3 Stooges Boxed Sets. I picked this one up first, mainly because of Joe Besser. I have not seen the Besser episodes since I was a kid. Earlier this year I got my 8 year old daughter to start watching the Stooges on AMC. She loves it all, Curley, Shemp and now Joe. When I saw this I knew I had to have it since she had never seen Joe. Many of the episodes are remakes from older titles in the catalog but they are still well done. The Stooges do look a little older here but they still perfrom top-notch. Shemp is also featured in many of the episodes on this disc. They filmed 4 episodes after his death with only Moe and Larry and used old footage of Shemp and stand-ins to fill in the gaps. Now I start by picking up the rest of the sets in reverse order.
Being the last in the series this has to be the best, and it is. This is the frosting on the cake. Job well done.
...if you're a Shemp fan like me, it's still a must-have. In these waning days when the studio cut it's budget, the Stooges remade some old shorts using old footage mixed with new footage (and a new title for each short). But there's still several hilarious 1955 & '56 all-original shorts to fully enjoy. And then there's Joe Besser in 1957, '58 and '59. I guess somewhere he has some true fans, but I'm not one of them. The Stooges just weren't funny any longer at this point. As with the rest of the Three Stooges Collection, the remastering makes each short top quality.
I have not received the video yet!!
