A very relaxing show to watch, funny
I'd purchased this set before for myself a while back and I enjoyed it enough to recommend it to others. A light-hearted comedy that's very relaxing to watch, at least for me. This time for this review, however, it's based on the fact that I purchased this for a friend I work with. She said she's been watching it quite a bit with her husband and has really enjoyed the shows. She was delighted when I told her all but the final season has been released already and that the 8th, the final one, will be released in March, 2 months later. She'll probably get all the seasons for herself. She enjoys the show a great deal like I do. Personally, I have all of Mr. Newhart's previous 1970s series, the Bob Newhart Show, on DVD and would like to add all of the 1980s sitcom on DVD as well to my collection. One more thing, I'd like to add is that all seasons (including both series) I have have closed captions or subtitles in English, a feature that helps me to understand the dialogues as I'm hard of hearing myself. Hopefully all of Newhart's seasons will have this feature as well. So, help yourself to both shows and enjoy! :-)

STILL VERY FUNNY
THIS WAS A GREAT SHOW AND STILL IS. BOB NEWHART IS AT HIS BEST, HE EVEN WORKS SOME OF HIS OLD TELEPHONE ROUTINES INTO THE SHOW WHICH BECAME HIS SHTICK BACK IN THE LATE 50'S AND EARLY 60'S. IF YOU LIKE BOB EVEN JUST A LTTLE YOU'LL LOVE IT.

fun to watch a quality show again!!!!!!!!!!!
the picture quality is not the best. but i think it had to do with the fact it was a first season budget thing. i hope season 2 picture quality is better. i really enjoy newharts comedic timing. last of the shows without the all the garbage(see 2 1/2 men).

Newhart: The first season
The first DVD disk jumps forward during some episodes. The DVD must be stopped and go back to the spot where the jumping begun. It is annoying!
