Newport X Series 55lb Thrust Transom Mounted Saltwater Electric Trolling Motor w/LED Battery Indicator (36" Shaft)

Fairly light weight motor pushes my 14' fishing boat at a pretty good clip. Probably equal to a 2 1/2 horse gas motor. Does not use much energy from the battery. The built-in battery meter really helps as it will show the battery charge remaining at all times. I have a fish finder and electric Anchor Winch all running from the same battery so it is important I know the battery charge. Recommends using a 50 amp circuit breaker to prevent motor damage. Does not come with motor, have to buy separate.

Used once and works well. Bought from Walmart because of free shipping. Arrived quickly. Bought for an Intex Mariner 4 inflatable boat because a 36" shaft is recommended, and this seems to be about the same speed as a much more expensive 3 hp motor. Since passengers sit lower in this boat, the tilting handle is nice because it is much more versatile and comfortable to use.

Love that the handle can move up and down, makes it more comfortable while sitting in my inflatable raft. The extension is a nice touch also

No way to turn off those convenient LED battery indicator lights. They mess up your vision at night and it's even worse when they reflect off your glasses and back into your eyes when you're trying to navigate after dark. Adjustable tilt head and telescopic handle aren't so much for your convenience as it is almost a necessity because of the longer shaft length compared to the NV series. Even the transom mount feels awkward when trying to tilt the motor out of the water. 55 pound thrust provides adequate power even against the current and with a light wind. I only used this two times when I already noticed rust forming on the drive shaft where to sheer pins goes through it.
