not as good as the original, but still good

Richard June 23, 2025

It was a mistake for Nabisco to re-brand this product to simply "Newtons" instead of "Fig Newtons" in 2012, ostensibly to focus attention on flavored varieties. I believe at the same time they changed the recipe. I noticed that the fig filling just didn't taste as good as the original, and the dough coating is brittle and bland tasting. I wrote to them and complained, whereupon I'm sure they convened an executive council to address my concerns. If you're looking for the original Fig Newton, you won't find it in this product, but forget the knock-off wannabes; they're even worse. The current product is the closest you'll come to the original.

Nothing better

Aspic July 6, 2025

There’s nothing on this planet that hits the spot better than these tasty treats. The larger size makes them easier to handle while on the road. The cake is soft and melts in your mouth. The center is not too sweet and mildly chewy. Gotta love this as a perfect dessert on the road.

Nabisco Great

Lee February 21, 2026

Nabisco has so many things to eat that are good. I always liked the fig newton’s. The cookie around the fig mixture is not the same it used to be. I don’t know why, but it’s dryer than I remember. I remember it was soft and chewy, but it is dry and a little to crunchy then it used to be. I still like it and I buy them, but I have to have something to drink with them. I don’t know if the company has changed that recipe or cooking them a little to long, I just know that crustiness I don’t like it and I wish they would go back to the softer cookie crust that they had for years. Now, that’s my preference. You might like how they are. I remember how they were from my childhood through some of my adult years.

We grew up with Fig Newtons when parents had a little extra money, a couple of times a year. Still good. Bought the box with individually wrapped, w/w cookies in each. Makes it a easy treat for neghbor children. Got 10 individual pkgs, which made the cost very reasonable. Try them with milk, or adults, good with coffee or tea 🍵!

Newtons Fig Bars

Cindy June 24, 2026

Fig Newtons being a childhood favorite these are the very best for convenience %26 being individually pkg'd means always freshest compared to being in a cookie jar or sealed wrapper type packaging. As I am diabetic %26can get in trouble between meals I just toss one in purse along with grapes or apple %26 a bottle of water

Soft Baked Fig NEWTONS

Debra June 25, 2026

I've been eating FIG NEWTONS for a long time and I usually have one after lunch, I prefer fresh figs but where I live it's not possible for me to get them without ordering them on the internet and then they are also too expensive. So I will stick to the FIG NEWTONS in the packages, they are tasty,

Delicious Snack with Just a Few Minor Quibbles

James April 22, 2026

I really enjoy Newtons Fig Bars! The soft, chewy texture is perfect, and the fig filling is sweet and satisfying. I love that these come in convenient snack packs—great for on-the-go. The only reason I didn’t give 5 stars is that I wish there were a bit more fig filling in each cookie. Still, a classic treat I keep coming back to!
