Moved from New York to Texas and drove 10 states! I didn't put the lock on which caused it to start opening while driving. so i highly recommend using it! The bag holds a lot of stuff. Easy to install. So glad I bought it!! attaching it to my roof using the clips that go inside the weather stripping was easy to install.
I love this cargo bag ! I drive a Ford escape and have no cross bars so I had to use the door frame under the weather seal method and it worked just fine. It was so affordable and it worked so good! We made a 20 hour trip from MN to TX then back to MN 5 days later. we unstrapped it to get our stuff out 4 times total and each time it re-strapped onto the car just fine. The trick to get it to fit proper without the straps getting ripped or unravelling is you have to snug it flat against your roof and weigh the bag down front to back. It doesn't have to be the same weight all the way thru but it needs to be heavy stuff in the front because that's where the air pushes against constantly so if the front is weighted the air glides over the top of the carrier instead of under it. so we put our big suit cases up front towards the front part of the car and our lighter stuff towards the back also when you tie the straps make sure to knot the flappy excess piece's to the already tightened strap. Because if you don't they A. flap noisily the entire ride making you think your stuff is unstrapped and B. will wiggle themselves loose and your bag will flop around in the wind then the constant tension from your heavy cargo bag flopping about will cause the straps to snap. Make sure to point the unzippered part towards the front of your car it keeps everything water proof. we drove thru rain, snow and 5 hours worth of heavy zero visibility fog and our stuff was crisp and dry when we got to our destination. I 10/10, 100% recommend this cargo bag it is amazing for the price. and worth every penny.
I purchased this item on a sale, so the value for the cost of the product was exceptional as the service this item provided. It did exactly was purchased to do. 13 hour family road trip and all worked well. We saw no wear on the product even after 13 hours on the highway. Highly recommend it.
we had family visiting from out of country, and needed extra space as we only have a sedan. This topper was a perfect fit. everything fit well, it traveled well, (even withstanding the winds of Kansas). Thick walls gave me confidence that everything would, and could ride well. Loved having the pad to protect the paint. Recommend this carrier to anyone who needs some extra room.
This luggage carrier fit 15 large vacuum bags of clothes and a few extra items for our move. It held up great for a 1500 mile drive and didn't get wet inside despite heavy rain. I wouldn't count on it as a daily need thing but it worked well for us and is still in great shape.
I loved it so much I am writing a review. I never write reviews but this was so good I had to. We drove 21 hours from Arizona to Washington in the winter and this thing held up great. Made three stops along the way and took it off and back on in 15 minutes (first time took me a while to get straps correct). We were planning to ship items back but shipping would have been more than 5X the cost and figured it was worth a shot. So glad we got this!
This bag worked awesome, drove feom Missouri to Oregon, it even withstood the rain 2000 miles at 80 mph at times this worked well , Only issues I'd say is it should have velcro in the front also , as it lifted up while driving overall I'd recommend this cargo bag
This size was great for our SUV. Traveled over 1500 miles, various climates. We did not have a rack, so we looped the straps inside the car after attaching the clips/straps to carrier. The non-slip mat worked well! A little water did enter carrier after we unlocked and opened it. A suggestion: have the zipper pulls overlap.
The best thing I can say is that it did technically get our things from point A to point B. Unfortunately, I'm sitting here looking at all of our things airing out as I type this. Waterproof? Definitely not. We weren't driving through thunderstorms or anything like that, just had a few pop up trickle showers. To be fair, we should have wrapped everything in trash bags just to be safe, but we didn't, and we were greeted with wet books, clothes, pillows, blankets, etc. when we got home. Nothing went flying off the car onto the interstate which we're grateful for, but soaking belongings after a long day of driving is not ideal. Proceed with caution!
DO NOT BUY!!!!! HORRIBLY MADE!!!! We had been traveling for an hour with this on our car roof. A semi passed us going other way and the straps ripped completely off and stupid thing went flying off and bouncing down highway with our stuff in it! The straps are weak like backpack straps. Waste of money!
