Great Camera with "Wire Free" Convenience

WiseMan August 23, 2023

It fulfills it purpose of being a completely wire free camera that you can place anywhere within the range of the wireless recorder. Good features and sensitivity, and the ability to "Speak" through the Camera speaker and "Listen" using the Mobile Application. One Caveat though is that while they say "Up to 6months of Battery life" that must have been in an empty room with zero "Triggers" on the camera, since I have this configure to only trigger on "Human" and "Face" and with 10-12 Triggers per day, the batteries only last 2 weeks before needing a recharge. However, knowing that was likely, I also bought the wall charger that comes with a spare set of batteries so that you can just swap the dead ones with the fresh ones and put the others back on the charger for the next time.

Extender Antenna

GeraldRBieniek September 23, 2019

I share the remaining of this email because it may be of value to others who are considering purchasing Night Owl Security products. I decided on purchasing Night Owl after observing my friends setup down the road. I purchased the WNVRC20 with four cameras. I live on a long and narrow acre of property. My garage (workshop/man cave) sits 135ft from the house. Two cameras are positioned in the house, one outside covering the backyard and entrance to my garage and the final one in my garage 135ft away. I positioned the NVR with double antennas at a window in the house facing the backyard and in direct line with my garage door window. I positioned the original Extender Antenna inside my garage at the garage door window hoping the signal from the NVR was strong enough to reach and give me a picture on my monitor in the house. It works! My back garage faces a road so you can see that I have been concerned about security. I now have Night Owl connections to my monitor, iPhone and computer. I spend six months in Michigan (Night Owl installation) and six months in Arizona. The additional Extender Antenna was connected to my outside camera so that I could position it correctly. The larger white antenna prevented me from getting the position I wanted.

Wi-Fi IP Plug In 4K Spotlight Cameras

I bought these with an eight camera kit and put them in where I didn't want to run wires, I did end up putting the extended antenna on them but now they work great

Prompt response from Night Owl. Antenna works

Big Dog September 22, 2021

I installed a Night Owl 8 camera system just over a year ago in my "Doghouse". That's my air conditioned shop where we play music weekly ( and yes sometimes weakly). Only 4 cameras worked all the time. After ordering 2 more antennas (one for base unit and one for camera) all 8 function well. My doghouse is a 40'x50' metal building so wireless range is reduced. 3 cameras that would seldom work (mounted outside) now work with antenna inside hooked to outside cameras. 2 others that would work sporadically, now work consistently, since base unit has one antenna outside Doghouse.

Holds Longer

Daisy311 December 21, 2021

I really can't tell much of a difference signal strength wise but it holds signal in longer spurts before dropping like the original antennas.

Great Addition To My System

duke earl July 9, 2021

My cameras are about 75' from the base. My house is stucco. The signal was very weak at best. I first mounted the antenna to the base unit, which did not improve anything. I then hooked it up to a camera and now that camera has an excellent signal strength. If your having signal issues on the camera end this is a must have.

Glitchy, not the best option, but will work.

rich12345 May 21, 2023

set up was fairtly simple but if your using a desktop set up its VERY limited on what you can do or adjust. they make you use the App.. fine but its VERY SLOW. video on day one as 10s slower then real time.. that's a LONG time when somebody is waiting at the door. or breaking it down. looking at past footage is clunky. not easy to select times, to view, and again its all on your tiny phone so cant see much.. you cant access the past footage on the desktop application. only phone... that should not be a hard fix for them. so what's the prob? and you have to pay for a advanced version of the app to access footage from ANYWHERE. or you can only use it when your in WIfi range.

Disappointed

Jen_Jen April 16, 2022

Unfortunately it didn't work for me. It's too short for the area I need it to stretch to. Please make these antenna longer than10 ft. I bought 2 one for a camera that's on my garage and the other for the NVR just to hopefully provide a better signal to where I need it. The one I connected to the NVR didn't seem to work with the other cameras around the house. Even though the signal aren't terrible in those areas. I just wanted to see if I would get a full 4 bar signal on them currently they are all 3 bars. Maybe the antenna connected to the NVR only works in conjuction with an antenna connected to a camera. On a positive note, shipping was fast.

They are nice.....when they work.

JWH01 January 11, 2024

I should have bought a wired system. They are continually dropping the signal then coming back at random. I have the Night Owl DVR that came with 8 cameras. I bought these last two to complete the system. The picture quality is great. However, all 10 cameras drop the signal at random. This makes the "security" cameras not so secure. It is not a range problem. The one that drops the most is less than 15 feet from the DVR. As I am typing this 3 out of the 10 cameras are offline. The monitor says "no signal".

Battery operated camera

JayMac November 8, 2023

Charged battery as recommended for 3 plus hours. Won't hold a charge for longer than three or four hours. Also, line in picture as if the lenses are cracked.
