Night Owl Power over Ethernet 12 Channel NVR Security System with 2TB Hard Drive and 4 Wired IP 4K Deterrence Cameras

This is my 4th Night Owl system. Still figuring it out. Most of the settings are done from my smart phone which im not sure I like, maybe just because I was use to doing it all on they system in the past models. Picture is crystal clear compared to my last system and I like have sound back.

Had to replace my original NVR because it crashed at a little over a year and a half old, just outside warranty. I like the system but really hope this unit lasts longer

Setup via Bluetooth was amazingly easy. Also connected it to a TV screen later just for ease in reviewing all the camera recordings. Hookup to cameras easy, hookup to NVR easy, although I did two cameras one day, and the the other cameras later during the week. I found I had to reset the NVR occasionally during the process for the Android App to hook up. No problem, all cameras installed, all working and recording and I get alerts on my app. I can bring up the app while traveling and I can view all the cameras live and the recordings. The one problem is the PC Windows CMS program worked the first day and hasn't since, so I hooked up to a tv via HDMI. I called chatted with customer service about the CMS and they said engineering was working on it. We will see.

I had for about a week. Poe system, hard wires and instructions straight forward. Setting all the functions for the cameras has not been easy. (not a tech guy) All the instructions and videos were for the wiring, which was the easy part. No instructions or videos for all the camera settings. Web support not help again because it was all about initial set up. Did chat support and Ana F was very helpful .Did not provide phone number for tech support with set up guide, had to look it up. Still working on a few issues nut it's up and running.

I bought this a month ago and just got around to hooking it up in room. Have not run wires and cameras yet. System powered up without issue and all cameras worked. No issues with app on phone and images looked good. Hope to get the cameras mounted in next few weeks. Overall happy with unit.

I'm a Do it yourself kinda of person and Night Owl created a NVrR that's easy as 123 to set up for those choosing to set ur own security system, it's plug and play can't get no more simplier than that.

The system itself is great, however my only complaint is that i ran all my cables to a patch panel in my closet where all my network gear is at. After punching all of the cables down into the patch panel i found out that the other end was not pinned out according to industry standard. all of the RJ-45 heads were reversed and i had to redo all of the cables. I used the industry standard of T568-B. Most people would have never found this issue because they would just plug the cable end directly into the NVR.

I am very disappointed with the live viewing options on the NVR. I purchased the 4K, 8 camera system but to my surprise after setting up the system, the monitor does not show the option on live view for just all eight cameras. It goes from six to nine cameras. You don't even sell 9 camera systems. Who in their right mind would write a program for a non existent nine cameras system, but exclude the option for standard selling eight system. It does show the eight cameras live view which makes it just confusing as to why there is no consistency.

Had these work for only a year and a half before they crapped the bed still havent gotten them to work i would try a different brand
